No, lack of a police report will not cause any issues. Not at fault accident can impact your premiums depending upon whether your state's department of insurance allows this. That doesn't mean it will, but it might.

The uninsured motorist for property damage thing varies from state to state. In Ohio, for example, it only applies if the other driver is identified and it is confirmed they do not have insurance, so a hit-skip like OP's would not be covered by UMPD in Ohio.

Thanks! This is NC (not a no-fault state), in case you have any expertise there. Both insured have perfect driving records and the only claims history is a $2000 comp claim for a water leak that damaged some of the vehicle flooring, two years ago. We get a small discount specifically for a “perfect” record, I assume that will go away but it’s only like $100/year.

I don't know if it will affect your rates in NC, but your line of thinking here re: filing a claim vs. paying out of pocket is sound.

I totally understand what you are asking. The outcome of filing a claim may be determined by your claims history, geographic location (your companies claims expense in that area), the actual company you have, and state and local laws.
Nobody can give you a guarantee on anything regarding your premiums.

Again, my reply was from actual experience not an “anecdotal” situation. It was a very similar situation and was a reply from experience. She never put any claims in prior and has a clean driving record.

Like I said, weigh the cost to fix vs your deductible. Just a friendly suggestion.

    Much appreciate the responses.

Anecdotal was the wrong word because it implies unreliability. What I meant was that it’s a single data point with lots of uncommon variables, so doesn’t necessarily apply to my situation.

Deductible is $250 so for me this is a no-brainer.

I have to correct myself, it was my adjuster not my agent. I don’t have an agent.

My policy has an August renewal so I should see the pricing next month. Will post any difference here.

As a blanket statement that is wrong.

Since banks require insurance for a mortgage, the beach real estate market would collapse if there were no one writing. Not all can pay cash and be self insured. And the beach market certainly has not collapsed.

There are specific situations where a carrier won't write until remedies are made.

For sure it is very expensive. But generally available.

    (My blanket statement)

Would of been better to state that multiple big carriers do not write policies in FL anymore bc of risk

I don’t know why I said agent, it’s USAA; I don’t have an agent. It was the adjuster. Who may be equally poorly informed. I’ll know soon.

adjusters don’t know either. you’ll know once you get your renewal.

yes, ALL claims even roadside assistance can effect your premium.

there are several other ratings factors that can effect the premium, beyond charging for a naf.
