I mean, all you gotta do is buy a brand controller of your choice, screw in 2 screws and connect into the plug that’s behind your brake/clutch pedal. Easy peasy.

You can pry that third pedal from my cold dead hands :D

I’ll drive MT as long as it’s humanly possible.

I didn't say it was impossible to address. Bought a redarc. I hate drilling holes or putting screws into a vehicle so nothing that requires that is an option that I want. Thus, disappointing that it's not an option from the factory.

lol In all honesty, I love that its a midsize and I've had several Toyotas over the years. I knew just what I was getting into. But with that being said, I wish they could tweak the cabin space a little. I'm 6' 3 and 200 lbs, all my buddies are similar size and my son is 9 and a little hefty, I don't think about the size (or lack thereof) much, but the second someone else is riding along, I'm reminded very quick.

    Yeah those back seats…

Although I find the front seats super comfy even on 10 hour drives. I’m 5’11” 185#, so not the smallest dude.

Pros: As has been stated many times, (I realize that its been mentioned so much because its an enthusiast forum) the Manual Transmission.
    Aftermarket support is good.
    Reliability.
    Ease of maintenance

    Cons:
    Sluggish engine.
    Drum brakes.
Awful factory wheel choices for the TRD OR. Like seriously not one update? I changed them out but yeah, kind of annoying

    MT Cons:
No keyless entry/push button start for MT owner... I wish Toyota would have at least switched the key to a flip key like on the base Rav4.
No JBL for MT owners either (can be a boon for others) but it is dumb that a TRD Pro has the crappy base speaker system if its a manual.

Pros, small utility truck, supposedly reliable, resale value, aftermarket mods.
Cons, gearing in AT could be better, backseat room is tight, remote start cancels when opening door.

Sometimes I miss fullsize and this seems small in comparison after only driving full size forever. But I didn't want the new Tundra and I wanted long term reliability.

honestly glad I don’t have the JBL, but the key on the MT makes me irrationally angry. My ‘13 MT Mazda has a push start, as do the new Tacoma ‘24s so it just seems like a lazy oversight. At least give a flip-fob!

significantly more annoying to replace shoes; albeit, they last forever (as rear brakes often do)

Yeah. I knew about that part, but the longevity offsets it for me. I was wondering if there was something beyond that which would impact the application in the Taco. Pretty sure for performance situations a disc is also preferred, but it's not like the 3rd gen Taco is winning any races. Lol

The key is so annoying. It is just at the right height that my knee easily can hit it. I have accidentally shut the engine off while driving twice. It’s been a long time since, both were near the front end of ownership, but still, I do not like the key or its placement at all. Either having a push button, or having the ign cylinder on the dash trim like my Frontier had it, would both be much better options compared to what we have, IMO.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned having to pay and subscribe to the Toyota app to use the remote start feature.

also would have been nice if the tailgate locked with the truck without an aftermarket add on.

My sub expired and my remote start still works. Not sure how long that will last. My tailgate also locks with the fob from the factory. Maybe it was added in the later gen 3s?
