285’s fit up front but depends on tour suspension set up on the rear

Are you saying wheel spacing can be a factor fitting 285's if you aren't bumped early enough?

I rolled 285's around in my head for awhile on my wife's 4runner. They would have fit with the ball joints moved forward from the Solo lowers, but making bump stop spacers and gearing, etc. just made me decide to stay with 265's to make it the fire road kind of rig.

Might be doing the billet c clamp after all. Whoever replaced the rack didn’t realize the clamp was directional apparently lol

big steering rack bolt close the lca mount is bent. (Bolt in the pic is just holding the washer on so I don’t lose it but that’s where it goes) Any ideas what to replace with size wise?

also every one of the add tube bolt heads didn’t play nicely. Has anyone replaced with normal people bolts?

belmetric is always a good source for oddball style metric bolts unless you want to just get oem again.

I did this too. Check the hole depth before ordering bolts - I want to say they might be a different length but it’s been a long time since I did that.

Just call parts counter for the part number for the big bolt and order online - too hard to find a perfectly shanked bolt.

Nice, thanks man. The rubber diff mount bushings are shot and the rear is toast. Are the poly front mounts worth doing or just OEM rubber?

Ok so I had some symptoms similar to the needle bearing taking a shit. Popped the CV out, lo and behold there’s already a solid bushing in there. But it didn’t quite look like the ECGS bushing. I painstakingly got the fucker out and realize it’s a shorter bushing. From what I know about this truck a guy from ECGS built the front diff. But now I’m like wtf is this some custom setup or what?

Truck has the solo XLT kit but as far as I’m aware there isn’t anything special for their kit to be fitted in the front diff so I’m kind of at a loss of what’s going on here.

comparison picks of the ECGS bushing versus this piece of shit I took out the driver side of the front diff.

I had 265’s with 4.88 gears and after putting the 285’s i really thinks it drives better, seems the 265 spun too much for it to reach speed
My front suspension clears the 285 by a tad, rear did not because i put outboard shock mounts and i had to add the spacers
But with no outboard mounts they may fit

can take pics monday when i get back

Yeah has ARB locker. Upon further inspection it looks like it’s setup to utilize a shorter bushing. The one I removed is stamped with “3520” which seems to match a bushing available from a couple vendors.

Edit: yeah after inspecting images of the ARB front locker setup I guess arb uses a solid bushing similar to the ecgs. I didn’t realize that was intrinsic to the arb unit. Now I just need a replacement.

You just answered a 5 year mystery for me. My truck has a front ARB, and when I went to replace the needle bearing, I was surprised not to find it there either.

Looking at a wheel that has -12 offset and is 9” wide. Backspacing is 4.5”. So that should push me out 0.25” further from the spindle than yours, right?

Wow that was a lot of gear for stock size. I like where it’s at for going around town w/ 4:10 - it’s getting 18-20 mpg until she puts on the AC then it’s 17 ish. I was almost thinking about 4.56 and throwing the front arb from my taco in there since it’s already setup with that but eh, don’t want to spend the time or $$$$ even though the rear needs to be resealed.

I’ll have to find it next superstition meetup in 2025. The usual jump by camp was good this winter.
