Exactly why I'd have a contractor take a peek first before making my decision, and also why I'm not a fan of reporting a claim unless I'm going to proceed with it.

Buy a Yamaha, I had Yamaha's for 25 years. I used to call them "SeaDoo Rescue Vehicles" and always carried a tow rope. Yamaha's are bullet proof.

The issue is - I do not know now if it is small. I would have to inspect by tearing into the deck (to ensure that this is the source of the issue) and the wall to determine the extent of the damage. There is insulation which would absorb and preserve moisture in there... so Mold may be an issue .

Can I hire a contractor to so an initial inspection and depending on that outcome, then file a claim?
Thinking about it, I believe that unfortunately that it will be worth a claim. Due to the remediation work. And maybe (likely?) mold.

I've always rented Yamaha's. They're definitely reliable and easier to work on. I like different things about the Sea Doo's and the Yamaha's. :notsure:

    I’m partial to Yamaha
    Not that I have owned a BT/PWC

Choice comes from adjusting them and resale values

    for instance
    Sea Doo Spark
Unknown who engineered this pos ski
You literally have a 1sf access panel to do minor maintenance
Yes you can take seat off but amazingly, access panel gives more room

    IMG_4267.jpg

Now a Spark is entry level ski

any major engine work needed, entire upper clam shell has to be removed (as well as steering components)
The Spark is a total loss every time
    (Never have repaired one)

Thought I'd tie off an insurance claim question I had previously in a separate thread and should have posted here. It was polluted by someone who didn't know what they were talking about, and rather than removing that person the thread was closed, so I can't post this there. It is here:

Insurance Claim questions | Tacoma World

To summarize, unknown hit and run in a parking lot while my wife's vehicle was parked (she was not inside). Discovered after the fact.

Went through insurance; the resulting at fault claim total was almost $5K by the time you add in the rental and supplement. Claim was paid and closed out (USAA).

My question was mainly what to expect in terms of premium impact for a not at fault claim.

Just received my renewal which covers her vehicle and mine. Went from $758.72 to $737.03 every six months. So, premium went down about twenty bucks. I called USAA to check and they did say this accident was included in the renewal calculation but did not result in a surcharge. The lower premium was apparently due to lower valuations for the vehicles due to depreciation. Certainly not what I expected, but a pleasant surprise.

Tagging those who participated in the above linked thread in case they're interested in the outcome.

good, although premium changes are a result of numerous changes, not just one.

Good to know. I'm currently fighting the insurance tooth and nail for under-appraising three claims of hail damage. (I think I just won on both cars, but the house appraisal is still a hot battleground.) My renewal in T-minus four months will be, uh, interesting.

The cars got PDR. They estimated 3k for the wife's car, I think the final bill is under 7k. My car was estimated at 1800 and so far it's racked up 2600 at the shop.

Insurance estimated 18k in damages to the house and paid out 9 of that. My roofer said "lol, no, we work in this decades prices." So far he's submitted an appraisal for 30k in damages.

I'm not too worried about it. They're legally obligated to make it right. And if they want to waste their salary hours dragging their feet, then I'll make sure they do so.
