Agree it s/b a factory option, however when I installed my Redarc I didn't have to drill any holes or use any screws. It comes with zip ties and I found a way to securely mount it under the dash with them.

Pro: manual transmission that puts a smile on my face every time I drive it since I tuned the ECU.
Con: the Sport model doesn't have space for a house battery under the hood near the passenger firewall due to a brake pressure regulator thingy.

My post may not have been clear. I was not saying the redarc required drilling. I was saying I bought a redarc because drilling or screwing holes was not an acceptable option as had been suggested as a solution to my desire for a factory option. If it required drilling I wouldn't have bought the redarc either.

Con- at 6' 1" I have to creek my neck awkwardly to the side and down to squeeze into the cab. The distance between the top of the seat and the door jamb at the top of the door makes it difficult for those of us who are a bit taller.

    Yes, let's follow the science:

Pro: Looks, resale value/reliability (hand in hand), perfect size truck - not driving a needless giant boat. Large mod availability offerings.

Con: That the stock 3rd Gen desperately needs a tune, bare minimum - the OBNOXIOUS pedal lag. How anybody can put up w/ that crap (pedal lag), long term, when there are fixes, is beyond me. Really.

P.S. Pro: That OTT tune is available for the above "con" (last mod I'd ever give up)! & of course Team Oil Drop tacoma videos apply when you own a Taco.

I can't compare with other cruise control systems but I was happy with my trip on the 15 from California to Utah. It slowed down and held speed and distance between me and a slowed down vehicle and speed back up immediately when the the car in front moved or sped up.

    Pro- it's a Tacoma
Con- pedal/acceleration lag. Kinda just accepting it and just drive slow and enjoy the ride.

    Pro: It is so versatile.
Con: it's an automatic. I live in city traffic and it's auto transmission is the worst I've driven in traffic conditions. I would have preferred rowing my own in traffic over it always trying to rush to 6th, while taking it's sweet ass time back down to where I need it. I just use the sport setting and keep it at 2nd, 3rd, or 4th depending on traffic flow.

I have the 2.7l 4 banger. As long as I don’t use cruise control it’s great. But depending on the headwind it will want to just drive at 6k without shifting on cruise control. I take it off and then I can drive fine.

This would be hard for me to tell because I had the tune done at the same times I got the lift and bigger tires and added, probably, 150 pounds of armor for off roading. So the MPG did drop in my case significantly (16 around town 19 hwy) but it drives really really nice - no gear hunting lots more pep than before - can step on it to pass and she takes off . . . just way more enjoyable to drive. And yes the MPG sucks but I really think that has to do with the other stuff not the tune.

Pro: So far it’s done everything I’ve wanted to reliably and it’s a great daily driver.

Con: EVERYTHING is just a little bit smaller or ‘less than’ I’d like it to be.

But on the whole, it’s a solid compromise and 7 years in and I’m still happy with the choice.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Jeez you’re a lucky man. Not everyone has dinner riding shotgun.

    040 Super White, 2020 TRD Sport DCLB 4x4;

    Pros:
Toyota's QDR, No issues almost 4 years in.
Resale Value, Relativity modest maintenance costs, tons of aftermarket accessories, very customizable, Photogenic, a Swiss Army Knife of versatility, Dynamic Radar Cruse Control, S-mode on the Auto Transmission, Very Off-Road capable out of the box, relatively trouble free stock four wheel drive system (with regular engagement), Long Box, Toyota Safety Sense-P, Vehicle Stability Control, In cab storage, Good Crash Rating, composite bed, 7 way power adjustable drivers seat, Android Auto/Apple Car Play, plasticky but durable interior, iconic great looking exterior. Really shines on long road trips, away from people & congested cities and especially off-road exploring.

    Cons:
Automatic Transmission and Engine programming to reduce emissions, increase MPG's and prevent traction loss. Especially going around a corner (I think it's tied to the VSC/traction control, no proof). Drivetrain gear ratios combined with a lack of engine torque low down in the RPM range. 040 Super White paint failures (my Texas made Super White is okay for now). DCLB is very practical for my use but it's a little long for around my busy town and parking. Not really a practical daily driver with my, at times congested, stressful commute. Anemic stereo, especially for passengers in the back.
Becoming a fervent 3rd gen cult member. Always find myself looking back at the truck when walking away. Even after almost 4 years.

Lol well I'm glad Toyota didn't pull a GM and recall the H key for us haha. I owned a 5th gen Camaro SS that was part of a recall for exactly what you described and GM's lawyers really screwed us. The fix was breaking the key out of the fob and giving you a physical key leaving the hole in place. You could then PAY to get a filler that said Camaro (at least when I went to get it at a dealer in Houston they told me it wasn't included) and I was like absolutely not. So they pestered me about it until I traded it in.Camaro flip key recall.jpg

As everyone can probably guess, I'll take the best and most useful (most all of these) pros and cons and sum them up in a video to educate potential future 3rd gen owners. I of course will credit everyone
