I've got an OEM TRD Pro skid (with the oil filter access door and single hole for oil drain access) and am interested in a Fumoto drain valve.
Is it possible to get a long nipple drain valve and have it remain under the skid?

They seem to be out of the short nipple valves atm.

    Thanks in advance

Which "TRD skid" are you asking about? The TRD Off Road or the TRD Pro?

I have the long nipple with the TRD Pro skid and it is protected well enough that I have no worries. I'm not out bashing off boulders, though.

Ok, that's the Pro skid plate. It's an added accessory on other trims, but the regular TRD Off Road skid is the thin sheet metal one that is black.

Anyway, yes, the long nipple is protected by that skid. I can pop out and take a pic from underneath if you'd like.

If it's not too much bother, a pic of how it clears would be super cool!

I would much prefer to have the longer of the two nipples of the skid protects it.

I can’t get a picture right now, but you’re looking at about an inch and a half clearance between the end of the nipple and the upper side of the plate.

**Damn it……missed that the question was about the LONG nipple. It is about 3/4”

Ah I gotcha, as the OEM one I pulled off I wouldn't have even really considered an actual skid plate. Almost nearly more of an air dam

If you use Fumoto’s tube/hose and connector the long nipple doesn’t buy you anything. The connector snaps on the end of the nipple regardless if it is short or long. The longer nipple, in regards to 3rd gen Tacoma’s, doesn’t do anything for you UNLESS you don’t use the $8 connector and rather slide a tube on over the nipple. In that situation a longer nipple might be advantageous. I use to slide the tube on over the nipple but it wasn't the best option. When they came out with that brass connector it was a game-changer for me.

I disagree. The longer nipple lets me push the rubber tubing further up and makes it less likely to pop off if it's bumped around a little.

Just ordered a long nipple Fumoto valve, a couple hoses and a few extra long nipple caps.

    Thanks gents!

That's what I said....if you don't use the connector then a longer nipple would help with sliding the tube on. But, if you use the connector, the tube slides onto the connector and can remain there even when not in use. The connector than just snaps on to the small collar on the end of the nipple.

There's literally only one actual TRD skid. Rest are splash guards

Not according to Toyota. The TRD off roads are sold with a "front skid plate" right on the spec sheet.

The "front skid plate" that comes default on off-road weighs in at 5 lbs ... made from recycled aluminum cans. RCI engine skid in aluminum (1/2 weight of steel) weighs in at 20 lbs. TRD Pro weighs 20 lbs (aluminum) and is 1/4 in thick.
