Sedona has been a hippy freak wasteland for 20 plus years now.... I've seen some stupid stuff out there that's for sure.

    I dont disagree with you.

But when I worked for state parks circa 2018 it was bad, but if you were familiar with the area and tourist patterns you could find pockets of sanity / beauty.

Post covid the only time I go there is around Feb when its nice and cold, or their fall fest for the kids which is somehow a well kept secret

My wife conned me into taking the kids there for the easter egg hunt and I will never do that again.

A buddy and mine took dirt bike down casner and back up schnebly and as soon as you get within 10 miles of that town its GTA:6, SxS edition

Where is your guys go-to to buy OEM accesories?
My bed extender met an untimely demise and the local dealership is always overpriced

Haven't had to buy anything OEM in a bit but at least pre pandemic Right Toyota was always decent to me. Thought I was going to laugh at them when bought my oem bed mat and all weather floor mats but they were as good or better than anything I found online.

Used to be a guy on here that worked parts at Camelback and gave forum members a discount don't think he's still around though

Anybody have secret or lesser known camp spots along the south rim? Ive never been to the south side and should probably get there this summer but as usual, dont like crowds.

Have you been to the old grand canyon airport? Its worth a visit.

From there its up to you how close you want to get to the crowds at the rim, the farther East the better.

There is an old lookout tower out there that is fun to camp by

Lots of camping options just south of NP boundary in Kaibab NF. Grand View lookout tower is usually busy but follow the roads to the south crowds should thin out. You can actually enter the park from there too

Ive never been to the south rim so I havent done any of the tourist stuff or anything else. Im totally cool with going East to miss crowds but will probably do the touristy stuff anyway just to do it once.

Is it better to go South than East? Is it possible to camp on the rim anywhere? If I go far to the East? I can do weekdays if that makes it better, which it probably does.

Grandview tower is south of Rim road and well East of Tusayan. You can get there without entering the park by taking FS roads from either side Cameron or Tusayan. As far as I know on the south rim you won't find any camping on rims edge would need to go to north rim for that.

Thanks for the info. Can you drive/walk out to the rim on the south side anywhere that isnt in the touristy areas, like farther East?

If you follow the road from Grandview tower north it will take you to desert view drive and enter the park. At least this was the case last time I was up there a couple years ago. I can't imagine enough people driving that many dirt miles to avoid paying entrance fees and causing the NPS to close the gate.

Sweet, Im always down for dirt miles and avoiding crowds. If it bypasses a fee thats fine but Im also cool with paying for the national parks to continue being national parks.

Last spot we camped was of FS 310 near where the AZ Trail crosses the road. Nice spot while there was some campers and traffic near the tower the only trucks we saw was a couple AZ Trail volunteers headed out to do some Trail maintenance
