I agree with the general consensus of the other comments. Something else is wrong with the truck.

Would have preferred a stick but wife wanted to be able to drive it (she loves the truck). Truck hasn't been under water, had door panel off to bump out dings from mirrors & truck still smelled like new when I got it. Have tested everything I can and the gremlins are driving me nuts. Have '13 Corolla, ,21 Camry and electronics different enough that no help & both salvage cars with no problems. Smaller tires will help on the mileage and drone from the big lugs tires annoying on highway so will do tires.
500 mile trip this weekend empty & 15+- on highway. Trany still hunting on low rolling hills and seems worse on cruise control but better with AC on??? Had one stretch of 60 mph construction zone showing 20-21 mpg with short drop to 5 then several; minutes later shot up to 30 for a minute! Estimated range on last fill up jumped from 256 to 260!!
I was hoping for some expertise here or someone who had some of this and found something I could test or possibly a fix.
I had one suggestion from Tundra owner to re-calibrate the lane assist to resolve sensing vehicles in adjoining lanes, not sure how related to cruise but was supposedly done when windshield replaced.
I'm back to dealer with more data, hoping for re flash this time. After tires so they can't point to those again.

FYI salvage title isn't an issue in itself, a lot of used cars you buy, same journey, just haven't been branded. It's insurance decision over cheapest route to settle claim. Been driving them for over 35+ years. Only stinker was '80 Continental with electrical issues after shop put jumper on it with key on. On that thought, this truck sat 4-5 months with dead battery.

You must live in a cheap neighborhood. I actually estimated $2100 with shop rates, Labor estimate was $3800, panel $653 & finishing $265. Daughter drove car up until day she surrendered it Replaced it with '13 Corolla with light hail dings & 14k lower mileage (salvage!!!) for $300 over payout on '09.

How so? I've probably done 400+rebuilders over the years. What have you built so far & how'd it go?

Your 33" tires will make gear hunting terrible, will severely screw up your fuel mileage and without a speedohealer, will make the vehicle calculated fuel mileage erratic besides wrong.

IIRC, the sensitivity of the nanny shit (adaptive cruise, lane assist, collision avoidance) can be adjusted through the head unit. Calibration may be bad also.

I doubt the dealer would reflash the ECU. The damages you've described wouldn't warrant it. About the only reason they will is if you need an update.

I decided to buy myself a new vehicle to replace my trusty 06 Tacoma Quad Cab 4.0 V6. After seeing mixed reviews on the new Tacomas I opted (just today) for a 2024 4Runner V6.
This is the first time in 20 years that I will not be driving a Truck.

    Radio, under setup I believe.

I have a tune, which helped the gear hunting with big tires. Did a speedohealer last week and now the fuel mileage reads close to what I calculate manually. The truck somehow also feels more refined again, the shifting is more like before I moved up to 33s. I don't understand why or how a speedohealer would do that, as my understanding is the speedohealer adjusts the speed signal for the cluster and has nothing to do with the ECU. Maybe I'm misunderstanding it and the signal is also fed to the ECU adjusted. If so, not sure why it would matter.

Sounds like it may traveled down an embankment and landed in a river after the initial collision. Too many unrelated problems. Change the tires back to stock size and see if any of the problems go away.

I didn’t claim I was capable of rebuilding a salvaged vehicle, and I don’t feel the need to provide you’ve a list of my accomplishments :D

if you’ve done over 400 rebuilds, why are you having so much problem with this one. You should have the experience in the research available to have figured this out a long time ago by now.

What’s the main stumbling block now?
As far as the gear hunting, you need different gears. The truck is geared for mileage as it is stock. Put 33’s on and you compound the issue.
Use 5th unless you are driving on freeway @ 70

Most of us have a love/hate thing with our trucks. Yours is pretty much all hate. Trade it on something you like.

I still call mine a truck. And with the back seats folded down, the "bed" is a little longer than the old double cab as well (assuming you had a 5' bed).

Well, you probably haven't price collision repair lately. 2015 Exploder dented front fender: Replacement part- $570, R&R fender labor-$400, body & paint work color match-$340. ~$1300 for an easy bolt on body part. Insurance will see it as a 13 year old car which, normally isn't even worth having collision/comp coverage. Because insurance will total a 13 year-old car for filing a claim. Had a 10 year old BMW 530i. Wife got in a minor collision which broke the headlights and dented the hood. They totaled it for cost of replacement headlights before any labor, body/paint. So yeah, deer strikes total cars every day. But, yes, something else is going on with the OPs truck.
