I hooked my dad up with an ‘06 DCSB 4.0 AT 2wd SR5 one owner with sun damage and AC trouble but no mechanical issues and a clean frame for 3500 ish if memory is correct. A casual TW guy went 3rd gen and it seemed like a fair shake for a vehicle my dad doesn’t really need. I get to borrow it when I visit him. I’m still pissed that he sold his first Gen prerunner for peanuts, it was clean.

Buying a new 2024 4Runner. I wanted to grab the last production of the V6. I should be posting in the next couple of days on TW "For Sale"
Feel free to ask me questions. I have a shit load of receipts to reflect the maintenance of my 06 Tacoma quad cab TRD Off-road V-6 Automatic.
"She's" been very good to me.

I wasn't able to get any leads on a 3rd member unfortunately.
But a normal non locker would be fine if you added an aftermarket locker like an ARB to it, but that defeats the purpose of trying to save money on the whole deal after all.

How much are they asking for 3rds with factory locker?

    Anyone SCUBA?

I am not certified yet, but now that things are a bit more settled, I'm hoping I will get my certification before end of year.

I am already buying my basic gear and will start practicing my floating and swimming here at my apt with the pool they have. The "treading water" test is my biggest fear of the certification because I can float on my back just fine, but for the life of me, I could NEVER tread water!!!

Amyways, does anyone SCUBA and would like to get together once I hopefully get my diving cert?

I wouldn't mind ocean dives, but I am more interested with actually river diving. I am interested in finding things in rivers or basically "river hunting".

    I live in Santee, btw.

LMAO, this is also something I want to get into...

    2023-Zen-Red_2000x.jpg

That's a Jackson Zen 3.0 and it is very forgiving with newbies!!! I've done quite a bit of reading and watching YT vids on kayaking.

I really don't want to go beyond Stage 3. Stage 2 to Stage 3 is where I would like to eventually stay within.

Also looking to see if anyone in the SD area kayaks and wouldn't mind getting together with a newbie in kayaking.

I REALLY like what the Jackson Zen 3.0 offers as a basically all around kayak and definitely good for beginners.

Pretty much dead set on getting this kayak... Just a matter of when at this point? Something I am focused on getting before end of year.

What I like about off-roading is that it opens up many different options to hobbies like camping as well as kayaking.

It's an incredible hobby/activity/lifestyle that probably rivals the surfing addiction. The closest whitewater is probably the American River up in Coloma. I highly recommend you rent a boat and take a lesson with all the gear. Buying the boat is the initial purchase, then you'll need a helmet/paddle/sprayskirt/pfd, none of which is cheap. My son just bought a new whitewater kayak, just over $2K out the door. He's been paddling close to 30yrs and has all the add-ons.

There's a lot of kayak manufacturers out there (Pyranha/Wavesport/Dagger). Honestly I'd rather paddle a bent shitcan then anything Jackson but that's just me.

    Over 1k :bananadead:

I wouldn’t be opposed to having someone rebuild the 3rd and weld the pinhole close. No clue of a shop to do the 3rd.

Yeah, saw the Pyranha as well.

I've been reading and watching a LOT about kayaking.

Also, well aware of the gear that goes with it.

Just like my SCUBA, eventually, I still need the most basic gear just for the certification and then getting my own gear eventually. I can tell you that isn't cheap either... even the basic gear setups.

I want to get an 80 al tank, but talked to people that highly suggest a steel tank instead. I'm up in the air about that though. I used to work for a diving company and definitely know the weight differences. Carrying a steel is daunting even just a few feet!!!

But yeah, trust me, I know about the accessories needed as well.

Eventually, I plan on getting into FFM diving setups. I already bought my FFM that I literally put together myself as well as the 2nd stage regulator. I"m certified, or was at the time I was employed, to work on FFM and the 2nd stage regulators. Even going to buy my own magnehelic to do maintenance on the 2nd stage when needed.

Here's my FFM and 2nd stage.

Im an MSDT PADI Instructor and have well over 1k dives and taught for several years at Rick's Dive Locker in Escondido.
Im down to go sometime. There are some good shore dives at the Cove and its an easy entrance/exit since its isolated from the waves so if you are new its a good spot to get your feet wet literally and figuratively.

And if you want to dive in rivers with heavy current I would HIGHLY recommend that you do some Ocean dives to get comfortable with controlling your buoyancy and getting familiar with all the gear, if you are totally green it can be an absolute disaster trying to figure things out while floating down a river at a good pace and having things go wrong, you certainly dont want to die trying to have fun out there

I can weld up that hole that's not too hard, if the inside of the 3rd housing is intact thats probably the best way to go by just rebuilding it IMO.

Just to give an idea of what I would like to try and do.

    https://youtu.be/wRaxk0a-Gmo?si=XVoIBb7hoEyEPXsh

HOWEVER, I wouldn't mind to eventually take "advance courses" like navigation and rescue. Those are just possible interests, but first thing is first is to just get started.

Finally, yeah, I was watching some vids and one of them said something very similar regarding currents.

I metal detect so naturally for me this is why I am interested in the river diving part of where people will tend to lose stuff. Maybe even lakes?

Btw, @Speed Freek Jason, I also repaired underwater communications gear.

A customers mask and the underwater comms I was repairing. Always loved the green frames? Very cool looking mask. Miss my electronics bench!!! That was a fun company to work for!!!

    IMG_20210830_143307974.jpg

I was certified to calibrate FFM 2nd stages.
    IMG_20220202_083600344.jpg

The FFM 2nd stages are quite easy to work on. The magnehelic was used for those.

But, with regards to the Interspiro Divator 2nd stage, testing those is extremely rudimentary... almost like taking a highschool science class... essentially you simply just tested for "bubbles" using an Interspiro test kit. NOT using that roughly $6000 magnehelic gauge setup... LOL.
