Ladies and gentlemen. I busted my ass today. I replaced all a/c components, installed inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower ball joints.

Anybody know who makes greasable bolts for the front leaf hangers?

It's a pain in the ass servicing those

True about the night vision issue. I really like what you did with the 4Runner sunglass holder light and that is the kind of solution that I'll ultimately source.

What year 4Runner did you use? The ones I see on eBay seem to be mounted below the headliner and yours is on the surface of the headliner.

    Thanks!

    Mike

I bought these when I was sick of my OME Dakars squeaking and creaking. Better bushings and greasable bolts.

The 4runner sunglass holder has a bracket that bolts in the roof like the OEM rear view mirror. It's much easier with that backet. I can't remember all the details but I remember finding it in the cheap/free mods thread long before doing it myself. The sunglass holder needed to be trimmed a little as well to get a good fit but it's definitely worth the effort. I have some details in the 1st page of my build thread.

? the last time you had the valve covers off were the valves all checked for specs?
i have encountered a few mentions out on the interwebs that this should be done on 5VZFE Every 60k miles? definitely much involvement just to check at that interval LOL
the valve covers have not been off my rig in 1/4 million miles, that Yota dealershop must've did an exceptional job resealing them because there is No weep (other than a small developing one in the back by the firewall half moons)
i would like to get them checked at 355k and see if this is the culprit of the loss of mojo the truck has been having on a hot run after about 50 miles or so it looses its Pep! it could also be fuel related IDK!! original pump and injecters at 27 years of aging

The 3 Toyota engines (3rz, 5vz, 2uz)I've done them on have all had at least one out of spec.

I bet 90% of valve cover leaks are from the rubber washers losing tension. I've seen aftermarket ones completely blow out when rechecking torque.

I followed your build to do mine :) need to get a holder from a 3rd gen 4Runner without a sunroof, the only other thing was color- mine was gray from earlier 4Runners that matched 00 and earlier blue-grey (moon mist) Tacoma interior, newer 4Runners matched the gray from 01-04 Tacomas, and the tan is the same for all 1st gen Tacomas and 3rd gen 4Runners.

I couldn’t find the bracket so I epoxied a wide piece of steel with a nut welded to the roof to mount it. The bracket is hard to find, doesn’t have a part number, not something part sellers care about since it’s kind of worth nothing
