Thanks, and yea the tubes are less than 1/4" wall so definitely have to be patient.
using TIG allows a little more heat control which helps too, and the gaps ended up basically nonexistant.
I'm just gonna take it super slow and measure afterwards. I can always use the same heat to bend it back to straighterness if needed but I have pretty high hopes I won't need to.

It doesn’t matter what you do. You won’t have a straight housing when finished.

About 10 years ago I had the pleasure of seeing the process on building a ford9” at a company that built many moser/strange housings, and eventually sold to one of them. They used MASSIVE I beams to fixture everything, then ran a hardened shaft down the tubes with supports in the center section.

He explained the whole process and explained that even with all of that fixturing there is still some degree of warp. But there is an allowable tolerance.

The tubes were clamped down in billet clamps which were built into this beam. It was a wild process and very educational on how even with drastic measures, some degree of warp is undoubtedly going to happen.

I think your super high end housings like tube works etc are actually fully pre heated at every step of the way to make them as near perfect as possible.

All I know is it won’t take much warp to raise hell with axles bearings and even the 3rd member.

Don't know what to tell you, production is a different animal because they can't afford to spend 30 seconds welding, 10 minutes cooling kind of duty cycle I can afford.
For sure there will be warpage but as you said, allowable tolerance is a thing.
All I can do is to take all the precautions i can to minimize the effects in every step: design, fitment, welding, and if it ends up out of spec i have a grinder, welder, torch, and a press to fix it.

isnt max cv axle angle 20-21 degrees with OEM inners? I know Dirt King modifies the inners to give more clearance for 22degrees

I'm thinking of sending my inners to dirtking. Do you think it's worth it for another 1° of angle??

no, cost vs travel gain is not really worth the trouble. If you were taking the plunge toward a 934 inner that cost is worth it.

Not sure. I’ll be using modified tundra axles for the 4Runner.

So, VA wants me to ride for physical therapy
    Either a recumbent bike
    Or a full suspension MTB
    So the ride is soft

    un named non profit said
Hey we got you, you’re in our athletics program so we will get you the bike.
After a month of waiting and getting no response from the bike person
I finally get a generic response from my case manager who says
    Nah
    Too expensive

meanwhile I see them buy a fleet of bikes every year for the same team athletes to do the Marine corps marathon…

so I reached out to see about getting a one time at cost deal from all the various MTB people and I have been stonewalled by every single one

    so
    My ask is,
    Does anyone have an in?

If it makes you feel any better, our govt handed out free e bikes to jobless, homeless people.

Always so happy to see the deserving ones get something they deserve.

    Wait….

If I was more educated I’d go that route
But I’m ideally after something with a warranty
Like a 2024 frame before the 2025 ones come out in a month….
Santa Cruz straight admitted they go 60% in august to their dealers

And where does one even look? cause FB mkp and Craig were empty

Yeah I reached out to Santa Cruz, Evo, and Diamondback
    And all of them said
    Go check our dealers
And all my local dealers are +20%

And the non profit I mentioned
    Scoffed at 3k
Ignoring that a recumbent bike is 11k

    those evil bikes look dope
But 6k for a trail bike is steep

6k for a solid enduro style bike is what you’re going to be looking at if you want something nice. Prices are wild on these things considering what they are.

But with that said, my Giant Reign was originally almost 6k new and I got it 2 years old for half that.

The bikes I was showing them as references of what I liked were right at that limit but I was trying to get below it as much as possible

What type of riding do you plan on? We talking single track and jumping type stuff? Or just chill easy pedals? Because if you’re not going hard, there are many lower end options that will also suite well. Aluminum frame etc.

Diamondback is garbage… this conversation is like you comparing a 250k pre runner to a used 85 ranger with two different colored doors
