Yeah. Especially in the bus maintenance business, we need to meet ‘quota’ in the morning for roll out, it created situation that a vehicle was on hold for one part, when that ordered part arrives to have the problem taken care of, it was discovered some additional problems to it due to cannibalizing.

There is a difference between working on something you want to -- say some rusty oil leaking non- running clunker you had to drag home 200 miles and something you have to -- like your ride to work...

:gossip: Or on this case Mrs Greens ride to work -- and we do want her to get to work. ;)

That said, if you have to work on something it might as well be a Subaru.

    Ball joints:

Remove the pinch bolt and tap a small chisel in to relax the socket.

    KIMG4085.jpg

With the aid of a bar pull the old one out.

    Like so:

Using this cool little tool from HF to pop the other end out.

    KIMG4089.jpg

If you don't have a helper a big pipe wrench and a ratchet strap will pull the control arm down.

    KIMG4082.jpg

A little torque wrench exercise and done, it probably took me longer wandering around looking for tools than to change both sides.

Even premium Moog brand parts are less than $20/side.

Maybe it got snagged on the safety chain mount? I think it gets pulled tight making right turns. I will look at that kit though. Thanks!

My not so old, cheap air compressor has decided to break the manifold off at the bung on the tank that holds the regulator and manifold. I thought the simple fix would be to tap the bung and put a double threaded nipple in it. When I started to run the tap in I found out the bung is some type of sintered metal that just crumbles  :frusty:

As much as I would like to great a big compressor that dims the lights when it kicks on, the reality is I need one to air up tires on the car, truck and mower and to run my pin and finish nailer for occasional woodworking projects. I don’t have any pneumatic impact guns or wrenches so my CFM requirements are pretty low.

I’m looking at something like the Kobalt Quiet Tech 2 gallon hot dog or the Harbor Freight Fortress version. I know, Harbor Freight, but the specs are actually just a tiny bit better on the HF version and I think all of this type of compressor is made in the same company in China.

Any of you have these or similar compressors? Other suggestions?

I found a small ball with a loop for a dog chain, or some sort of something… If it was for a dog, the only dogs it was big enough to contain was a mini pin or chihuahua :anonymous:

Pic available upon request (tomorrow morning though…).

With that flared base it may be a trailer hitch ball?

I thought that, but it seems a little small. Maybe not, hard for me to tell. :notsure:

I kind of "had to" get one...

It is very difficult for me to get up & down anymore, if I was going to keep working on this stuff I had to get it up in the air. Quite the @$$ kicker to put in alone, thank goodness I have the old forklift.

Hottest day so far this year - seemed logical to turn on the oven and make my version of chicken parmesan. :bananadead:

It is one of Mrs Greens favorites.
