It's going to be a hot one this week, heat indexes at 100 or more, actual temps in the 90s. I dont do well in the heat. I'll be shut down indoors with the ac all week. Truck will never shut off, lol.

Went to church this morning, then to brunch, then did a 1 mile walk. That's about all I can do anymore as my back is jacked and it makes my right leg go numb after a short time. It even does it when we go grocery shopping. It is what it is and I really dont want to go through another back surgery. Already been through one for the left leg but I had to do it, when your leg shuts off and you cant walk you have no choice. I'm just trying to make it to retirement so I can slow down. But all in all it was a good weekend off.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Got a call this morning from a former co-worker. Said he got himself in a bit of a pickle and needed a favor.

On Thur, his last pickup, he pulled out of the customer's dock with a forklift in the trailer. Woman backed off the trailer onto the parking lot. She's OK, forklift relatively OK, the kicker is it was her last day, she retired on Fri.

The woman had given him the paperwork to sign before loading him, which isn't policy but all of the loaders do it as there are usually as many as a dozen bills being loaded, and the driver can work on signatures while being loaded.

He finished signing, went outside, saw he had a red light and thought it odd, so he went to the tail and checked to make sure the hook wouldn't hit his liftgate and proceeded to pull out of the dock. He said he felt movement on the tail of his trailer just as he started moving. His mistake was that when he checked the tail of his trailer, he didn't check to see if the dockplate was pulled and the dock door closed. I'm not sure why he even left the building in the first place, because from the driver's area, you can see if they are still loading your trailer. Nobody else I know of leaves the building until the loader tells them they're done.

He's suspended, waiting corporate review to see if he keeps his job. He's looking for letters of reference from people in case he gets terminated and tries to appeal his termination. He admits he screwed up.

That is exactly why I dont sit in my truck to be loaded or unloaded. I wait on the dock, then secure my load and close my roll up door on the trailer. I have seen that scenario described above happen before. That woman could have been killed, that would have been a shame on her last day. She should have known better and locked the trailer in also, both at fault on that one.

Couldn't lock the trailer, liftgate...nothing to lock to.

Well good Monday morning all. Thunderstorms rolling through right now and then it'll be very uncomfortable the rest of the week. 94 today and like that for the next 7 days. Man I do not like the heat, that's why I live in the north, lol.
Good news is I only work 4 days this week. I took Friday of to take my girl in for a colonoscopy. We've been slow at work anyways. Mondays are usually busy though. Our downtown plant is a heat treat facility also, not looking forward to going there this week. Nice in the winter, sucks in the summer, lol.
My truck won't shut off all week. Thankfully it doesn't have that anti idle b.s.
Be safe drivers, try and stay cool.

5:30 HUMPDAY morning and it's still 79 degrees. Man this heat is just ridiculous. When I'm on a loading dock even for a little bit I can feel the sweat just rolling down my back. I don't shut the truck off all day, just leave it running with the ac full blast and it's just cool, not cold. If the ac goes out I'm going home, lol. Stay cool drivers.
