In my experience, fruit trees produce a big harvest every 4 years, except for my Keiffer pear, it does it every other year.
My peach is loaded this year, and my peach jams and canned peaches in storage are dated 2020, last year we had enough peaches to can. Nectarines should have fruit next year.

We planted 2 new apples and 2 new pears last year to replace the old trees.
Both of my older apple trees bloomed, but did not set any fruit this year. I will be cutting them down and putting 8 more blueberries instead. That area can be made bird resistant, almost bird proof. We eat a lot of blueberries, plus they jam and freeze easily.

My Prime Ark Freedom suddenly exploded with more buds and flowers today, it still hasn't finished ripening some other berries too.

Watering chestnuts, lindens, fruit trees and decorative in the back 6 acres.
150 gal water can is just the right size for the 5ft bed.
Plus I weed a bit while water is running.

Still sweating it out here in SC waiting on rain. Watering about every 2-3 days. Picked 8 gallons of beans this eve. Not a bumper crop so far but enough to get started canning so still worth the effort. That many more not quite filled out yet and gazziliom blooms still on bushes.
And about a half gallon more blue berries first thing this morn. They are in full stride now.
Corn is tassling like 7-8’ tall on wetter end of garden and waist high at other end. Expect about 50-60% yield, 6 rows 125’ long and usually average better than 1 full ear a foot. We shall see.zucchini slowing a little but yeller squash still going. Jalapeños ready to pick. A few maters ready to pick tomorrow. Some spaghetti squash coming in. Cantaloupe about a dozen fist size. Think that’s the report.

And my ass is dragging but working around the farm here gets me past the stress of work.

So... Deer hopped my new 5 ft fence and mowed down my pepper plants. After it ate my cucumber plants. Deer season will start in the fall, and Bamby will migrate into the freezer, but I need to do something to save my plants. Old fence was 4ft chain link and they did not bother my garden.

Any suggestions? Thinking about installing 4ft extensions with barbed wire. Do not want to live in the Riker Island, but I do not know what else to do.
If I cover raised plants with nets/cages, deer will eat apple and pear trees I have behind the fence.

Mine is a 5’ tall electric fence, 4 strands . Second strand from bottom is grounded to all posts. Have yet to have one in there since I put it up. My dentist told me he makes little cups of aluminum foil, puts peanut butter in them and hangs them on hot strand of fence around his garden at start of every season. Deer get the idea quickly. Bet you could run a single strand about 3’ out from your fence about 2’ high and stop them cold. And a .22 works pretty good too.

My dad lived in a migratory path for the local herd of deer. He used Fishing Line with great success. It’s a fairly cheap option.

How? Stretched it to block the path? How high, do you know?

He set up a double perimeter using T posts and 4 strands of heavy test line. If I remember right it was 4’ tall and 2’ or 3’ between the runs.
