On the other hand Subaru continues to impress.

Not only does the transmission have a drain plug in the pan - they included a spin on filter! EZ to service. :boink:

    Probably the original...

This is the fluid it calls for.

Oof! Looks like that trailer hitch tried to take one for the team, but he was playing short handed.

With Amazon being wankers, I had to bust out old faithful.

It's been a very long time since I've mowed with this set up, can reconfirm it takes more than twice as long as the Ferris, but is easier to clean the deck, and gets under evergreens better. Unfortunately, not an even trade off. :)

    No doubt.
I'm sure many have read about people fighting with the Tacoma differential drain & fill.

Here is the rear on the Subaru, 3/4" pipe plugs with a 1/2" square drive and a magnet.

    KIMG4097.jpg

    Good job guys!

Made my semi annual trip to Princess Auto today. Everything here was 30% to 50% off, and it was still $116.00

    Productive day (inside)

Brakes bled - they seem to work too. :woot:

    Transmission fluid and filter changed.

Front & rear differentials drained & refilled.

The front has a drain plug with a massive T70 Torx head - I didn't have one :pout:...
    However HF did. :)
There is an actual dipstick for the front as well, it serves as the fill point also.

I might actually get to drive this thing before the end of the month. :fingerscrossed:

Stopped to get some plumbers putty and priced a spud wrench for a drain (on the camper), $30 for the wrench. Nope, I’ll make my own!

Hello everyone, I constantly forget about this area of the TW site. I have been working on the firewood truck, I had to pull the engine and trans. I have a low mileage L31 that I will use as a long block and set it up to run on the TBI system. I had to replace some broken exhaust flange studs so after failing at trying to drill the broken studs with the manifold still on the engine, I pulled the manifold and did some silly stuff on my drill press.

Not the most ideal way of doing anything, but until the day gets here where I have a shop with some machine tools this is gonna have to do. :D

Needless to say- don't do what I do, it's not a very smart setup. ( Yes, that's a 4 flute endmill in the chuck.)

That is the same as my regular mowing setup. It’s a PITA mowing around the house but the rest is easy enough.
