Good luck, I fought with Toyota and throwing parts at my truck for 3 years, I finally gave up and traded it in. Salesman called me 2 weeks later asking about the loud whining noise a customer heard on a Test Drive. I told him to look up the truck's service record, and he'll find Toyota's official statement (It's Normal) regarding the noise. and said good luck

I know I have a feeling it’s going to be a battle such BS Toyota is not what it was I might have to bite the bullet and just buy the upgraded cab dampner and install myself

    It's a damper. It's not a dampener and dampner isn't a word.

Let me ask you should the new dynamic frame damper be on the lower trim models like the SR and SR5

I'd say no since the TSB I'm aware of doesn't include them.

Do you think it’s worth a try to install them on mine just to see if it stops the rear whine

    Good deal!

Did you have any issues with the cab mount bolts? I ordered my dampers over the weekend and am hoping there are no surprises. Hoping I won't need to remove the rear seats to access the tops of the bolts...

You won’t need to get to the top of the bolts. There’s a shoulder/slot that each bolt drops into that keeps it from rotating, so if the bolt starts spinning let it fall back into the slot and continue. The instructions also make it seem like you need a different stopper (52216-04020) but the stock ones fits perfectly and may actually be this part number already.

As far as results: I only did the dampers and the whole job takes 5-10min. The gear whine during deceleration from highway speeds (65-50mph) is still present but much quieter now.

Just turned 9k miles with my 2020 sr5.....Haven't had any howling at any speeds. On very windy days i'll get noises coming from the tonneau cover as the wind hits it.

It will take you about 10 minutes to install. Just take the cab mount bolt off underneath, slip the dampers on, torque bolt back on and done! Don’t expect it to completely disappear, but my noise came down about 75% and I don’t even notice it anymore unless I specifically listen for it at the right speed.

Do these come in a pair, or do you need to order 2 of them?

There sold individually. I purchased and installed both of them a while ago but they didnt stop the howling. Basically a waste of $200 for me

So, I have a base model 2011. I started noticing a whirring noise at about 190,000 when I go 55-65. I replaced the center support bearing hoping it would fix the issue. It didn't. I would say now it is only between 55-60 mph though. Is this what everyone is talking about? If not, any ideas?

It’s funny how not all trucks do this.

On my 23 I change the rear diff lube at 7500. I have just over 20K and there is no noise. I am thankful that, but it is odd how some trucks have it some don’t.

For those still wrestling with this, switching over to Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 helped mine a bit. Testing has shown it leads to the lowest temps, which can have an effect on harmonics. Going a grade heavier may also help.

That's interesting, Amsoil ended up being the loudest of all the gear oils I tried. I've tried Redline 75/90, Valvoline 75/90, Mobile Delvac 75/90, and finally Redline 75/110. FYI I have the TSB dampeners as well as the foam parts from the TSB. I'm temped to try new rear springs but the 75/110 has made it at least tolerable for now.
