2024 taco wait time

Hello guys! Grandpa here. Just wondering. Put deposit on 2024 sport 4 months ago today. (2-20-24.) Still don't have an allocation. Contacted corporate office, and all i got was the run-around. They kick me back to the dealership, which can't tell me anything. Has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks in advance.

 

Get you $$$ back and go find another dealer.

Unless you ordered a TH or Pro- 2 people on the whole internet have theirs.

Otherwise find a dealer with a lot of locations and they should get you a truck pretty fast.

Dealership can definitely give you and production order date and build date, after that it's just an estimate on when they receive it and if the truck gets pulled for a QC hold.

 

Is your Sport color and configuration a unicorn? There are Sports everywhere.

 

There are 1200 listed on dealer lots as of this morning. What general area are you in and what are the specs you wanted?

 

The manuals are rare in every trim

 

I think your best bet with Toyota, as opposed to Ford or GM, is to aggressively keep searching incoming and unsold inventory. Then snag it with a deposit. The Toyota ordering and allocation process seems quite different than other manufacturers in that doing a build isn’t as straightforward as you’d assume.

 

Thanks guys for all the info! The dealership says it's because of the 2 wheel drive with the upgrade package. They wanted me to broaden my colors and include 4 wheel drive, but that was the purpose of "ordering" it, was to get one like I wanted. Located in Oklahoma. Not too many dealers in the state.

It data scrapes the Toyota inventory site every morning. You can sort by the attributes you just described. I would try to list the hits, but they are just too numerous. Choose a dealer. Phone for verification. Then ask your dealer to arrange a trade. Toyota dealers normally have no problems trading inventory. Good luck!

 

I had to drive 300 miles to buy mine. Also had to settle and pay for one with moonroof thats something i hate but since i wanted a new tacoma i did it.

 

Calling around to multiple dealers is key to getting what you want faster.
On a side note, does anyone know how to track a VTN # and what exactly it can show? My dealer gave me one but I think I need the VIN to really track the truck.

Even if you moved over to a 4WD there are none in the state currently. Maybe check the Dallas market?

Unfortunately, I didn't place a deposit. Tried to order mine back if February and not one local dealer within a 50 mile radius of my home wanted to take an order. So, I found my truck (the one i wanted) and drove 450 miles to buy it. Drove back with the biggest smile on my face. Haven't regretted my decision. And a grandpa, also
