I've never messed with the market, I can't see putting my money somewhere someone else can take it from me. That's just me.

I understand that point of view.

On the other hand traditional methods of growing money like savings accounts & certificates of deposit don't have near the yield they did 40 years ago.

I would never be able to dream about retirement without the stock market.
Didn't say I could retire, but I can dream!!

I love it, it’s been a great tractor. When I bought it I knew very little about compact tractors. I bought the Kioti because it had better performance numbers and better price compared to Kubota. Both had dealers local, but I was already spending more money than I wanted too and I just couldn’t justify spending more for Kubota for the namesake.

I just about get by now. ;)

Life is good, I occasionally drive past my former place of employment and grin like a fool knowing I will never set foot in that building again. :D

I had this on a post it on my work computer for years:

"Money is a proxy for time - control of your time is the goal."

Excellent, thanks for the insight and time to write it up. It’s very helpful

I have a Kioti dealership about a mile away vs Kubota and John Deere an hour and half each in different directions…

The time’ll fly if you forget about the number of years.

I was in your shoes when I moved to my current home and job 22 years ago.

I could retire next year but I might give it a couple more to boost the pension. The only bs I deal with currently is mismanagement on an epic scale and I think I can tolerate that for a while more. The time flew in hindsight and I’m happy to be where I am.

    You’ll get there

There’s plenty of other good folks on the tractor tread that would be glad to offer opinions on what’s out there when you ready to buy. I think having having a dealer close is important, especially if you don’t have the ability to move the tractor on your own. Most dealers charge $2+ a mile to come get your tractor if it needs to go back to shop for any reason. That can get expensive quickly.

My employer is all about inclusion and diversity now. I don’t care what color or orientation you are, let’s just get the job done and go home!

I would be poor if I took the route of a day trader or trying to play the market myself with my personal knowledge. Contributing to my retirement account, with contributions from my employer, when I started working for my current employer in 1991 has paid dividends. The money is in the stock market, but I just set it and forget it. The stock market goes up and down but it has always rebounded higher than ever after a downturn. As I get close to or in retirement I will have the money placed so it makes less money but is not a risky situation so I do not have to fear a bear market.
