    Nice KLX! I had a 2013.
How were the road tires going up that hill?
I had some 50/50 tires that were still really good on road. And then later went full knobby with the Kenda K-760 Trakmaster II Tires. They still performed alright pavement stretches. But not great in turns.

Tires were good enough, area is hardpack dirt trails, that off section was barely grassy. Lots of proper dirtbike trails around, I don't head into them once they get to proper singletrack and handlebar width.

I think the CB500X and AT use the same too. Makes sense from a business stand point. I have no clue why they didn't just throw them on the CRF300 to start with.

I did mine like this so they weren't "hard" mounted

I’m gonna have to disagree with you there lol. Unless your plan is to carry the bike.

I bought the bike to bomb around town mostly, and to just explore some of the FSR's and access roads faster (and much cheaper) than my 4R. Slick tires for now are fun with the limited traction offroad, but I'll be on the lookout for a takeoff set from the dualsport version so I can run both eventually.

I guess you’re referring to forest roads. a challenge like that can no doubt be fun.
Keep exploring and good luck when you hit the difficult dirt bike trails.
