Last night drove an 03 prerunner auto and boy that electronic throttle body shit is so different than the cable ones. Really touchy throttle. We were trying to diagnose a couple issues, one was the steering seems to stiffen up at around 30* off center when returning to center. Noticeable on curve roads. I think the truck is due for tie rods and ball joints which is an easy enough fix. The other issue I couldn't replicate is that the truck driving 35-45mph with partial throttle to maintain speed, will drop rpm and power. Not sure of that's a transmission issue or is signs of fuel pump/ignition system needing a refresh. What do you guys think?

That sounds like the ethrottle is losing or at least getting a lower pedal position sensor signal, look for pending codes for the ECTS-i system

should since it is part of the codebase for basic drivetrain diagnostics, nothing proprietary there

@m3bassman The position sensors for throttle and pedal position are known to fail on those TBs and cause weird drivability

I'll have to look into part numbers, it could be a cheap fix at least.

lol there are none, its a replace the whole TB situation if thats what diagnosis concludes, part of the reason that system is shit, also it's slow as fuck for response anyway

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
Still in the garage in packing. I'm glad I didn't install it or it would have been heavily damaged. I just need a little help some weekend to install it.

Decided to throw a dash cam on the GX; see a lot of stupid drivers so figured I'd get something for the event of a "just in case"

My brother and his family are on a family reunion trip for her side of the family on the Gulf coast. Apparently my brother and his wife were told to take some time for themselves on a date and the rest of the family could watch their kids, and they fucking lost my 3 year old nephew on the beach...had the cops and lifeguards involved looking and found him almost 2 hours later just happily playing by himself about a mile up the coast lol.

apparently there were 6 adults there total in the family and no one saw him wander off, what the fuck

An Amazon special Viofo A119 Mini 2

Most recommended single channel setup that actually records good quality for under $200

Above that price point, you'd be spending more for 4k video, cloud service, and more (which I don't want/need)

I didn't want to take up a 12V plug nor did I want to run a cable so I got a plug that pigtails off my rearview mirror

Yeah, I put it off for too long but then again...technology is always getting better for cheap so it was finally time to buy one

What made the push for me were the many videos showing how license plates are still visible at night without being blinded by the reflective light coming back at you

I mean, if I ever need to catch something on video I'll just verbalize the license plate as well just to assume the camera didn't record it

    Better safe than sorry

I run a digital rear view mirror with integrated front/rear dash cams in both my cars. Love them.
Basically eliminates blind spots with how wide angle the rear camera is too
