I have the TRD intake on my 2020 TRD off-road, was on the truck when I got it. I just recently put the OEM paper filter in it because I think it filters better in off-road dusty conditions. It looks like it fits ok, but just wanted to be sure of the fit and if anyone else uses the OEM filter with TRD intake. Not trying to debate which filter is better, flows more air, etc, just mainly about the fit or any issue I may not be aware of. Thanks

Dry filters are better than oiled. I don’t like K&N. The best intake on the market is the Injen Evolution Intake. I see a drastic reduction intake air temps at speed. It runs at 3 degrees above ambient at 75 MPH. OEM as close to 18. I love it, nice grunt and fantastic airflow. It sucks air in from two different spots and has a ram air effect sucking air in from above the radiator as well.

Taco DV, so does the oem filter work fine? If so then shouldn't we be able to use any other filter made for the tacoma that is the dry filter type? I too prefer dry filter type especially for off roading, not sure why this kit went with the oiled type.

It seems to be fine from what I can tell. Yes, you should be able to use any filter you want. I prefer OEM.

They make high flow dry filters are those bad for Offroading like the oiled versions are?

I would stick with OEM. Probably next to zero performance gains with a fancy filter on a stock truck.

I've got the stock intake with the TRD catback. I previously used the K&N drop in filter, but switched back to paper for easy maintenance.

The stock paper filter will work fine with the TRD intake though.

Perfect, that’s I was asking. Seems to fit fine, but a little different than the TRD oiled filter.

No, just make sure the filtration rating is high
