I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I just had my '23 in for it's 10,000 mile service, and asked to go check out the '24s while I was killing time. They didn't have any. Every 24 is sold before they get it. This is in Augusta, Maine, so not really a big-money part of the US. It seems the 24s are selling fine. I've known the shop boss here since high-school, and when I asked him if the 24 Tacomas have had many problems, he hadn't seen any yet. I have no idea how many they've sold, as I never thought to ask. I'll ask next time.

My local dealer has 9 new Tacoma's on the lot, usually it's 1 or 2 available. But I did notice my neighbor a few houses down bought a New Tacoma TRD Sport, it's a good looking truck.

Can you elaborate on what makes it insanely complex? A turbo engine is simple, there’s nothing inherently more complex than a NA engine. The 3.5l 2GR-FKS could easily be described as insanely complex with its variable cycle design.

The way I read that is, the motors are "insanely complex" to be torn down and get put back to gether on the shop floor.

The screen is exposed to UV light being on top of the dash. I can also see the screen getting knocked off if someone is throwing crap on the dash when using the truck for work unlikely but possible.

For the people who like to "wait and see" how a new model holds up in terms of issues that would be about 2 years.

OP claims there wasnt. The A/C evaporator cracks have been the consistent theme, theres one guy who got his lemoned cause his truck sat waiting on the part past the day limit.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I had my 2nd gen for 16 years, and hope to keep this '23 for at least as long. So, I am just a spectator, with no dog in the fight. I'm not a big fan of turbos on a gas engine, and the prices on new trucks are insane, no matter whose emblem is on the griIle. Having said that, I am happy for the folks with the new trucks, and hope they all have many trouble-free miles.

I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but that window clearly suffered an impact in the lower corner. I've seen safety glass that has shattered from thermal stress, and it looks nothing like that, but whatever. Some folks could be locked naked in a rubber room with an anvil, and by morning, the anvil will be in 4 pieces. My eldest son is like that. My wife and I called him Destructo-man when he was a kid, and his little brother was his trusty side-kick, Bust-it-up Ben. Many were the extra chores done to compensate for something smashed in a moment of youthful exuberance and carelessness. They even managed to break the cant dog handle once.

This is very common for glass that takes an impact but doesn’t break immediately, several thermal cycles will cause it to shatter like that.

I am not defending Toyota but clearly that was damaged rather than a manufacturing defect.

No worries, lol. We just had a 3-day spate of 100 degree weather here in Maine, and my truck was out in it every day with the AC cranked up enough to have snowflakes swirling around the cab, and my windows are all fine so far.
