Glad you like that. Thanks for the recommendation, just got back from the Home Depot did a little research got lucky and found this tool for 16 plus tax.

I will update on the effectiveness of this little tool.

If it's mineral buildup around the o rings some distilled vinegar or CLR should break that up and convince it to break free.

 

Well that was scary. Job complete. Tool was definitely needed, 1/2 through pulling it out I panicked, old cartridge would come 1/2 out then come to a hard stop. I couldn't get any torque on the tiny tool to give it a man-sized heave. So I kept giving it the ole in-and-out, and at the end I was having to whack on it pretty hard, real hard with the dead-blow hammer to get it back in, I could see the issue the rubber seal was out of place so I figured would need to pull with enough force to cut the rubber on the extract. Luckily I think it went close enough to its proper position on one of the ole-ins and finally the last ole-out it came out.

You can see in the pics the left side rubber had shifted, right side was right there. This must have been pretty old cartridge for rubber to get all bent out of shape.

Don't you just love opening those clam-shell packages?

$75.00 for the total job, plus my time driving to Homey Depot for part and of course time on the job, clean up, etc. Probably took 3 hours, geesh.

looks like the same valve as mine. i had noticed it was getting stiffer 2 years ago, about 5 years of use.

replaced it, and the first time i used it i was so used to cranking on it, i almost twisted my wrist with the lack of effort!

 

Yup thanks. Exactly, it spins with one finger from off to full-on to off again. Amazing, probably due to the fact I almost drained the included pack of oil-lube included with the cartridge I think some got into the hole so the internal is now well-lubed. It will probably get tighter sooner than later. You're right though, so much more noticeably easier to crank over.

 

Im in Charlotte now but grew up in the area went to elementary/JR high and High School there and Im in a 4 Runner now......

 

Haha so you know this area well. Are there any 4wheel lots around here? Abandoned lots, that sort of thing?

 

Man there used to be some areas out off Clay pit road but im sure they are long gone. My grandparents used to own the land from 60 and Valrico Rd to Mt Carmel (where Home Depot is) down to front St and back to Valrico Rd. have you been up the Ocala area?

Yeah I've been up there to thatOcala area it's just a long drive from Tampa that's why I'm looking local just something quick quick and fun.

Those cartridge's are a PITA to pull...

Mine has been acting a little goofy so it's time for replacement. The current pull to turn on the water is not working out for a person in my household so it looks like I get to upgrade it here shortly...

Ants or termites? Termites love moisture. Got a couple floor joist eaten by those little buggers
