Oh trust me, some of the trucks y'all post in the "SHOULD I BUY THIS TRUCK?" and I about fall out of my chair

Then some mid-westerner comes on and says "she's fucking mint, go for it, hit it with some wool wax once a year and call her good"

there's a growing list of compatible drums for that. eastwood was one of the originators of the tool, and has a nice backlog of alternative options for different uses

i've got the same one, haven't really used it yet though.

Been eyeing the Eastwood for years, then miraculously when HF came out with this one, Eastwood dropped their price significantly. Like so many hf things, turns out half of the parts between the two are interchangable.

Cause Harbor Freight is hooking up with the supplier itself (and benefits the poors like myself)

I mean look at the many things shared between them, Eastwood, and other companies

The little welding table is a great example of that since Klutch has their version, Eastwood, and HF as well

Same goes for a bunch of other things

There are entire forums/groups dedicated to "upgrading" HF tools with parts from other brands. Essentially turning your HF power tool into a bigger name brand for less than the cost of that tool. I'd love to see the factory where they're all made on one assembly line and then at the end split off to different paint booths

been looking at one myself, seeing the expanded drum options from Eastwood is making this a much more likely purchase in the near future

there's even more off-brand options of drums on Amazon as well. there's also off-brand tools as well, including angle grinder adapters-- pre-adapted complete units, and the adapter kit.

there's plenty of popularity around the tool design, so it seems there's a lot of development of new options for it. the twisted wire wheel drum is next on my list. and not listed on eastwood's amazon page are their narrow-width options for it.
    https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-contour-sct-narrow-wheel-spacer-set.html
    https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-contour-sct-narrow-scale-stripping-wheel.html
    https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-contour-sct-narrow-finishing-wheel-80-grit.html

the big thing is that it's designed for large flat surface prep-- like that saw blade. my project right now is the c-channel for the trailer. i could use the tool for the back side, but the inside part of the channel i need a normal angle grinder/wire wheel anyways. and being that i've already got the wire wheel loaded up, i just keep using it on the flat side as well...

one of the finish guys at work uses one to finish off stainless steel to give it a uniform finish, not all that different than how they do bodywork on deloreans.

too hot to be in the garage!

95 degree air temp means it's 110 degrees minimum in the garage.

i'm just waiting for someone to hand me a winning lottery ticket.

otherwise working 9 hrs a day 5 days a week in the heat, building and fabricating trucks, i'm not all that excited about doing the same things on the two days i have off.

honestly, today is only supposed to be 80 degrees for a high, so i did consider going out, but cutting/welding/grinding takes a lot out of me, and will make an already long hot week feel even longer and hotter if i don't take a break from it on sunday--i can do it on saturday fine as long as i have sunday to reset for the upcoming week. but i've pushed hard to get projects done before over the weekend, and i usually end up with a far worse week from overworking myself, which is just not worth it for a self-funded project.

my trailer build 'deadline' is entirely within my head, so i'm extending it. the benefits of controlling the little part of my schedule i can actually control.

4th of july weekend i'll have a 4-day weekend. i'll likely make some time up then instead.

Shaitty video skillz but that's all I have for now. Will work on it again next weekend.

Obviously I haven't added the 90' bend for the fairlead.
