Yea it’s amazing stuff. We did our back deck with it at our old house. No regrets at all. It actually doesn’t get as hot as you’d think either. There were only a few days we had to spray it with water to walk on it. I made one bad cut and am 2” short on my last step. I’m too cheap to buy a whole new board so I keep hoping I can buy someone else’s short board to finish the job I started 5 years ago. Those buggers got expensive!

No it's an ICECO VL45PROS slider but I installed it on HDPE board to help distribute the weight of the slider across the uneven bed

I absolutely love it! I am putting it in my work van while traveling so I don't have to deal with ice

I need to build a slider to slide out the side of my back seat. I picked up a Kohree fridge for a steal at 60$ still with plastic on it. spending almost 200$ on a slider feels insane.

For a Chinese “cheap” fridge it’s been amazing. I was apprehensive at first. New they’re like 180$. I swear by it now. keep frozen breast milk in it for my son when we leave the house. It’ll hold 30-40deg with the car off for an hour in the current Charleston weather.

I agree and you could totally make one... I just weighed the options of building time vs just clicking a few buttons.. the older I have gotten the less I want to fabricate

disclaimer.....this is a hilux snorkel from before when they made a snorkel speciffically for the 2nd gen. i would assume that the tube diameter and wall thickness are the same, and id wager a good amount that the head is identical across the board.
Snorkel main body inlet ID: 3-7/16''
Snorkel main body inlet OD: 3-1/32''
Snorkel head ID: same as Body OD, but has 4 relief sections to allow it to expand and contract. the reliefs are also how rain gets pushed out
    Snorkel head intake width: 5-3/8''
    Snorkel head intake height: 3-3/4''

cross country shipping might kill it, but thinking $250+ shipping if not local. also, i have a 1 of 1 @HomerTaco grill on the head, so its actually priceless.

Damn it. That’s what I’m currently running. I thought you had the Tacoma version. I was gonna try to trade you a one piece double cardan drive shaft for it lol

Just curious, why are you wanting to change?

Even if I had a 2nd gen one, I wouldn't be able to trade for the driveshaft. I like the ground clearance of the 2 piece, and with the 4 link build, at full compression, a 1-piece would contact the underside of the cab. Barely clearing it with a 2 piece actually.

The Tacoma one is larger in diameter throughout and technically should provide better unrestricted airflow since the hilux one is meant for a smaller engine. I also like the looks better. Ah I thought you would gain more down travel with the one piece, especially with the double cardan for your links. But yes up travel is an issue even with stock rear config with the one piece. I need to put new ujoints in it and install it. But I’m moving to Texas from Charleston next week and I’m not super sure if I want to move with it.

Huh, good info. I actually didn't even know a 2nd gen one was made until I was taking the measurements and thought to myself, it'd sure be weird if ARB still didn't make one. So I googled it and sure enough!

You'd be surprised how much travel the stock shaft has. I'm shooting for a 50/50 up and down travel setup with 10-12 inches in both directions. I have t jacked the truck up high enough to find out, but I'm guessing you'd need about 18 inches of drop to max out the u-joints. And odds are you'd max out your slip yoke first with that much travel.

our back deck is made from trex. Be warned this shit gets HOT and slippery. If it’s in direct sun it’ll get extremely hot like pavement.
