    FYI, I just bought a used one out of WV, just a bill of sale was needed. No taxes . Not sure for brand new, you may have to pay sales tax ? What brand or type u looking for ? The one I bought is classified as a subcompact tractor. Kubota 3cyld diesel , mid and rear PTO.

    I know exactly how a heat pump works... :smack:
    :rofl::):D

    So, you rarely use the heat pump for heating purposes? I don't blame you, because they suck once it gets below freezing; I wonder if PECO (gas and electric provider for Philly and the outlying suburbs) would give my parents a special rate for having a heat pump...? Both of the A/Cs at my house are eight years old and work fine, but this is definitely something to consider when it comes time to replace one or both!

    It's a lot cooler in Canada, no? Some houses around here have one 5-ton, but newer houses with only one system (regardless of size) have zoning dampers in the ductwork, and each floor gets its own thermostat.

    I always just shut the grills off in the basement and keep them on upstairs. Does the trick. Even in winter I only leave 3 of the 8 open because I just really don't need the heat down there

    Might be cooler but not sure it's much more than PA? Doesn't seem too far off

    Those reciprocating compressor's sound like a jet taking off & there's always something rattling on them.

    Trane is owned by American Standard, and that company sells identical units under both nameplates. The higher end units have Climatuff reciprocating compressors that are very quiet. Older Carrier and Yorks also seemed to have decent recips; I'm not entirely sure when scrolls first became a think, but I believe that I saw a 1992 Rheem heat pump once that said "scroll inside". Rheem/Ruud was one of the first manufacturers to implement scroll compressors, but I don't know when other brands starting using them; I once tore apart and scrapped a 1993 York Stellar heat pump, and that had a reciprocating compressor...

    I just meant the old Goodman's in particular. I got to know their sound without even going outside.

    I think Goodman is owned by Daikin now. Who knows or cares. I have a Carrier installed at my own house & I can barely hear it.

    Ruud is another good brand. They're not rude at all, lol. I install Trane's in Palm Beach most of the time 'cuz they can afford it.

    Carrier is very easy to get here since corporate is in Palm Beach Gardens. I have a few friends that work there.

    Yes, they are ineffective at cold temps because they are actually using the outside air to heat. Our HVAC set the temp to switch to the propane furnace at 35 degrees but I remember him telling me his was set at 22 degrees. He was a big, hefty guy, so my gues is he like his house cool in the winter.

    Good morning PA. Grass cutting day. It's been 10 or so days. We actually got rain most afternoons/evenings during this hot spell, so I only have one or two small brown spots in the yard.

    Good morning Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. Yet another Monday. All the server storms also missed my area. Got some pretty strong winds but that's about it.

    Thanks! This one is used, but from a dealer - I expected sales theft-erp...sales "tax"; Just trying to avoid things I don't know may not be real...things like "Oh! We have ANOTHER legally-required-to-charge fee for the yellow-billed swallow we have to tack-on to the price..."

    Yea I think you should only be paying sales taxes. If not, just give me a name and I'll kick their ass, free of charge*!
