Ok. Truck's back. The valve and timing cover leaks I was monitoring for years got detectable worse, so I decided to get ahead of it since other major priorities had finally been taken care of.

And it's creeping up to 300k so while the front is off, why not do the timing chains. And since I'm doing that why not do the entire timing set. And since I'm doing that why not the vvt cams.

And since that's a fuck of a lot to do on my back in the gravel, I took it to Seth's, who did a bang up job for an extremely reasonable price.

I have the box of old guts, when I get some free time I'll do a writeup/show and tell on them. Overall they're definitely worn but still serviceable, in a lot better shape than they could have been and still been in the expected range. I'm glad I did everything while it was still in working order, before wear, vibrations, and so forth started stressing deeper engine components. The chain was definitely stretched and the ratchet adjusters were maybe halfway out. No uneven wear on teeth, no serious crust on anything, makes me feel good about getting another 100k out of this engine.

that's crazy shit. hope everyone here reads this if you plan on selling on FB

 

I've bought and sold on FB, but all contact was through messenger. I've done the same on Craig's List and used their email app (for lack of a better word) to filter the emails.

I've done both purchases and sales here because if I need to I can ask the admin who somebody really is. I've never had and had only good experiences.

 

I’m not on Facebook. My wife was taking care of selling it which she has done before without problem.

 

Yeah I've had people off the bat try to ask for my number and I'm like.. No.

There's enough legit websites that have leaks that it probably doesn't matter though :/

 

Same here re both platforms plus here. Lot of flakes and whatnot though eventually the good ones are out there.

I had a guy give me his number after a few texts back and forth. I went with it and it was fine. Push to shove my number is a business so it's all over the web anyway

 

Most of the people I've dealt with are either here or on a shooters forum. A few on FB and CL. I'm very careful with who I deal with, or at least try to be.

The shooters forum has a feedback function and I always check that before comitting to anything. Here I base it on post count and how long they've been active.

 

Sounds like the 6 digit confirmation number FB asks you for when you try to change your password. A number of my co-workers have had their FB hacked this way.

A lot of "buyers" on FB marketplace are also pretending to accidentally send you too much money through PayPal or similar, and asking you send back the difference.

 

All the more reason for me NOT to try to sell my diesel....

 

I've done Ebay for small money things, though even that is very rare. I bought a couple of center caps for my truck a few years ago off my head.

There's a bike forum I buy on too but most of those I deal with have sold a lot and been on the site a long time so they definitely care about their reputation

Even if I reach a deal on FB or Craigslist, no electronic payment. Meeting shall be at my local PD, where they have a space designated for such transactions that is recorded and monitored.

 

This heat is killing me

 

I've never had any issues with eBay, except a couple people not leaving feedback. All of the feedback I did have is gone anyway because they deleted my account due to inactivity.

I've bought from CL with no issues, I've sold on CL a couple times. Almost every reply I got was spam or a scam, or the person showed up with half of the money I agreed to.

I never sold on FB, and only accompanied someone else when buying. As lot of junk on FB.

I'll take it over the freezing cold.

 

I built a new well cover and decided to use the old 4-piece concrete one as a base for my campfire wood. I thought I was going to pass out when I was moving that around today.

I've never sold on Ebay. I've heard some stories from people who do, problem is the buyer usually gets all the rights. One friend had a sale reversed stating it was not as described..which was false and he had proof. The buyer got a refund and never even had to return the item.

The couple of times I had a CL person come to my house was only b/c the item was too large to move easily or with just myself. Those times I made sure my wife was home and watching from an inconspicuous spot upstairs just in case. We sold her old Rav4 on Craigslist and it was not registered so people came here.

I had my gaming rig on CB and Marketplace, just so happened the Marketplace ad went first. But at least a dozen nippleheads before the one who got it.

 

I love the cold. At least then I can dress warmer. I can't legally wear less than I am currently.

I was going to finish my sleeper build in the truck but I just can't. Went to home depot and got the supplies. Some kids working there were wearing hoodies. My mind just couldn't understand. Basement got really organized though.. lol

 

Laws are made to be broken..but it is cheaper to run my pool and AC versus heat my house, so....

 

Looking at the weather maps, the heat you're getting now we got last week. Sorry.

Give me late fall or winter anytime. I really don't like the heat.
