    Hi everyone,

Your help and thoughts appreciated in advance. The typical car value sites show this valued as approx $34K. Should I stick with that number as the basis to negotiate with dealer? Has someone traded in a close to mint 2022 SR5/4WD double cab 5 ft bed Tacoma lately? How much?

Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated.

this means more than anything else for trade in

you already told them you have a trade in and they will focus on that and play games with numbers to make things look better. Your best bet is sell it yourself on facebook

I traded in my 2021 trd pro Tacoma back in February. KBB had a value of like 40,000 to 43,000. Had about 31k miles when I traded it in. I also did Carmax and Carvana to get an idea of what they would offer and both were right around 40k as well. I do check from time to time to see the value if I still had it and it has stayed basically the same.

I’d take kbb with a grain of salt and use Carmax or carvana that will give you an actual value based off your vehicle to use during negotiations.

I just read earlier this week that used car/truck prices are falling off the cliff. Maybe you're seeing this?

Could be, though I've heard this said for at least 6 months now, probably longer.

Trade ins are always a win for the dealer. If they weren't, they wouldn't do it.

Negotiate your best price on your buy w/o a trade in the game. Come back the next day and tell them you want to trade after all. That way you'll see a more accurate number for what they allow you.

I've bought at least 3 vehicles from folks who used this method and got so ticked at the dealers number they decided not to let them 'have it'. I bought it for the dealer offer (basically wholesale) + what they would have saved on sales tax with the trade. So they were 'whole', I got a deal, the dealer had to go fishing again.

40k plus tax incentives which covered the majority of the taxes. I think with that it ended up coming to like 43k or so. But they offered 40k for the truck, which was on par with all the research I did.

I might have been able to get more but I’ll only buy from one dealer in my state (they never inflated prices during Covid and they don’t pull any games when buying a car, which to me is worth more than getting top dollar on trade). But I will agree with other posters that location plays a roll as well. Good luck with the trade! I loved my 3rd Gen but outgrew it with the family and business needs. Real happy with my tundra and the extra power and space!
