Porsche is also a niche automaker and not at all comparable to the world's largest automaker by volume, which is Toyota.

In regards to the photo I posted...The person who took it does not state there are any holds going on and that the average turn around time from train to transport truck is about 2 days.

This is Toyota’s inventory across all models?

Correct. You may be able to obtain more granular data but it's behind a paywall.

I would think being number one on that chart is the preferred position. Tight inventory management is key in many industries. It could however also show and hide inventory issues on certain models.

I still don’t like their sales model. The greedy distributors suck. It wasn’t always that way in Gulf States until the owner died and the children took over.

Regardless of whether this is considered a win or not, the Land Cruiser and Lexus GX are being sold at a $10-$15,000 premium. Which has pretty much killed any interest I have in buying one.

And this is coming from a guy who buys a Toyota every two or three years for the last 25 years.

Beats the hell out of me. I love my '23 and see no reason why other Tacoma owners can't love their trucks the same. I don't personally care for turbochargers on gasoline engines, which is why I bought the '23, but I have no quarrels with others that feel different, nor do I derive any satisfaction at someone else's misery if they have mechanical problems. But that's just me, I guess, LOL.

Title may say one thing, but they are selling. I see them all over the Bay Area and I just bought mine. Dealer didn’t have many on hand and they are a huge dealer.

GX looked interesting but for Land Rover prices, I bought a Defender instead. They have the benefit of being reliable and lacking the VF35…

Toyota will sell 150K Tacomas this year; maybe even 200K. There are plenty of people out there with disposable income who pay cash (or otherwise don't care about high interest rates) and are happy to buy at or near MSRP. Its an exciting time to get a Tacoma with the new platform, new features, being a beta test of sorts, etc, etc.

That said, I just turned 80K miles and will hold tight with my 3rd Gen that's dialed in just the way I want it; maybe for a long time.

In order to hit 200,000 units sold in 2024, they are going to need to sell 20,000 in each of the next 7 months. If they do that, they certainly deserve applause.

The Fed agrees. Interest rates aren't curbing inflation enough because affluent Americans are propping up consumer spending. Funny thing is, the new car market and housing market should be the first things hit by high rates. Eventually we'll burn through the disposable household wealth, or maybe bump up the rates, until the bulk of people stop splurging.

Toyota won’t get my money this year, but pronouncements of Tacoma’s sales demise seem either premature or just your ordinary click bait.

They sold 17000 last month despite high interest rates, QC setbacks, no hybrids, and a product mix that seems heavily weighted on overpriced short bed SR5’s and Sports.

I’d call it a lousy rollout, but heavy discounts, full-line availability, a ton of interest from first-time truck owners, and of course long-term financing should more than compensate for early sales shortfalls, from July/Aug forward.

Agreed, I was really looking forward to replacing my 2013 with a 2024, but I think I'll be hanging onto her for quite a while longer...
