The Bucee's in Richmond is about an hour north of us. I stop in whenever I have to go to Lexington. I hadn't heard KY was getting another one :)

My last employer had one of their big corporate data centers in the Cleveland, OH area. A year or so back, they had a goose fly into the power lines, which took out power to several city blocks, including the corporate data center. Because naturally, no one had ever decided a corporate data center should have on site standby generators.....

I bet if you carefully video that, and the ensuing fight afterwards, you could start your own TikTok or YouTube channel and get zillions of views

Doing Major Incident Management for that company, I can't tell you how many times every month we would have major outages due to the most idiotic things...... local power outages that take out major manufacturing sites/data centers that have no backup generators; power outages because the site UPS is 30+ years old, the manufacturer hasn't sold parts for years, ,and the local team has to try to buy parts from eBay; business critical applications that stop working because their license expired days ago, and no one knew it in time to install a new license; business critical applications running on servers so old they were out of warranty, and not even supported by the manufacturer any more; critical applications or services running on a single server, not in a "high availability" cluster configuration........ and this is a company that has been in business for >100 years, and was big in the aerospace industry for decades.

And the VP who tossed me in the shitcan tells me "you're being let go so we can use your salary to fund technology update projects next year".:rofl::rofl:

Happy lunchtime everyone. I'm just a passenger in today's epic shit show, it's almost amusing if you can block out the very serious nature of this programs existence.

I cooked up some 1/3 ish lb burgers last night. Some worchestershire sauce, shredded Mexican cheese and a egg for a binder, all hand mixed and tossed onto the griddle plate. I like a special condiment on my burgers.:D

Today was treatment day. Now I’m tired from the drugs and the dog wants a walk around the neighborhood. After that a quick nap in the recliner.

    What I do know:

    • Of the 6 people on my team, that I hired and trained, I was based in the US, 1 based in Colombia, South America, 1 based in Poland, 3 based in India. My salary was much higher than any of the other 5 people on my team.
    • About a month after I was canned, I happened to look at the company's Careers web site, and what do you know... they were hiring a new Major Incident Manager - based in Colombia, South America.
    • They were paying me a good salary, in the 6 figures. But I am absolutely certain, in order to address ALL of the technology problems I was aware of, I would estimate would cost at least $25Million. And I am sure I was aware of only a portion of all the technology issues that needed to be addressed.
I have no idea if they did any technology refreshing this year or not.

Small single tumor in lung 8mm x 9mm it is stage 1A, early stage. Highly successful treatment at this stage. No cancer has spread to the rest of my body. Meet with radiation on Monday to discuss and also surgeon on July 26th, the choice between the 2 is mine. Same success rate between them it is very high. Pros and cons to each however, like most things in life no free lunch. But looking as good as it could be for cancer. I was informed there is no such thing as a little cancer either you have it or don't. But success rate for treating it varies on the stage that it is detected. I am in the highly successful category.

Most of my life I resisted going to see a doctor. I'm not no damn sickbay commando! Glad I finally wised up it took me long enough.

At our age if something is wrong with your body don't wait for it to get better on its own. That ship has done sailed carry your ass to see your doctor. In my case I am going to call it dumb luck as much as anything else.
