I’m prolly at a 7 or 8. Only off roading I get to do is hunting and fishing spots. Not a lot of good off road spots here in the Midwest. Door dings, rust, dents, and rock chips are a few of my biggest pet peeves. I park away from everyone in parking lots. I make sure to touch up any rock chips religiously and keep it ceramic coated. Oil (5k/6mo) and other fluids all by the book. Lastly, I live where they salt the roads heavily. So I fluid film and touchless car wash all winter. 1-10 where are you?

    I'm at a 5.

I use it like truck when I need a truck.
I do not do all fluids "by the book". I do them when I think they are needed.
I wash it once a month. Wax it 2 times a year. And only because it's parked outside all day, every day (365)
I change the oil at 5K. Not every 6 months.
I grease the driveline 2x a year. (when I wax the truck)

In short, I "baby" it depending on the situation.
Sometimes I beat on it, other times I'm easy on it.

I'm probably about a 12.... LOL! This will be the last 'new' anything I'll ever buy, so it has to outlast me. And I'm hell-bent on getting a 500,000 mile truck, even if I don't last that long.
Whatever Toyota recommends for maintenance, I cut that in half. Nobody but me drives it. It lives on the pavement only. Get's parked in the shade only. If someone has mud on their shoes, they're not getting in my truck. No animals allowed. No kids allowed. The only thing that goes in the bed is a cooler/air mattress/sleeping bag. Hand wash only and ceramic coat every 6 months.
Probably a bunch of other stuff I can't think of right now, but yeah.... I'm that guy. I know I'm anal about my truck, but don't care.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Like 3ish. It gets all the parts/fluids/maintenance... but it's built for a purpose. I bounce off the rev limiter, drive way too fast offroad, clutch dump in 4low sometimes, sometimes I just get on the highway full throttle and rip the gears for fun at 13psi of boost. It's a camping/wheeling truck, gotta have fun with it, use it how it wants to be used. It likes full throttle pulls in boost and letting the 35s eat the terrain.

I had a good friend tell me, "Might" never stopped me from doing anything. And "will" has only slowed me down".
He's dead now. But there is some truth to those words.

10 is "more" babying. (You shouldn't own a truck)
1 is Less. (It's just money)

I don't baby it, but I don't beat on it either. Towing with it occasionally is probably the hardest it works. I replace broken clips and other little issues as they occur. Off-Road is mostly Maine and New Hampshire Forest Service Roads and other unimproved public/private land roads with landowner permission as required, for fishing and hunting or just to explore. Some of this is in very remote areas, so I'm very fussy about the fluid change intervals and other maintenance. 4,000-5,000 oil and filter changes and others by the Toyota Schedule for the most part. I have done all of them (fluids) since I purchased it three years ago, so I have a baseline for all of them now. I keep the interior clean and detail it, the engine bay and the exterior about twice per year. I also use Top Tier gas and Techron just before the oil changes. I spray down the frame and under-body sheet metal with Fluid-Film in the fall. If any or all of this meets the definition of babying it: I'm good with it. :proposetoast:

I'm only driving it about 12,000 miles/year now, so engine Air and Cabin filters get replaced once per year, usually in the fall. Current mileage: 134,000

    8?

Every week I wash the truck and tire shine it. Detailed (Scotchguard the cloth, Meguiar the rest, wash the mats, and Vacuum the carpet) every Friday. Check under vehicle, surface paint check, Tire pressure, do a radio-free drive on Monday's commute to work to check for any new noises. Check fluids every fill up
