I noticed my tank mileage somehow reset after I washed the truck and then, the following morning, had to use some effort (in 4WD) to break free the rear parking/drum brakes, which apparently got wet and froze up after I parked on a hill. Anyone have any idea why the tank cumulative mileage would reset?

Check your battery connections. The reset typically only happens when the battery becomes disconnected. If you've got a lot of corrosion on the terminals that could do it.

Just thank gawd it wasn't one of those Tesla Truck things that will 'brick' after it gets wet.

Haha -- no, it's not a cyberthing, thankfully. I'll keep my Taco as long as they let me...

I experienced that a few times myself (the mileage thing resetting itself)... Then one day after I had the radio playing for maybe 45 minutes or so while cleaning the interior, the truck wouldn't turn over when I tried to start it (starter went *ratt-a-tat-tat-tat*). It was a failing battery.

New battery, hasn't happened since (I noticed with the new battery the engine cranked over much more strongly too).

Thanks. The battery is the original one and it's now 5+ years old. It may be that. Thanks for the info.

Mine lasted 6yrs then one morning the trip odos were both at zero and a crank more to start.

Later that day after driving 200mi highway it wouldn’t start…..not much warning.

94 battery cells out of 100 required ... 94 battery cells ... one cell dies, only 93 cells left ...

    WTF!
