Yeah I mean that's why I bought it for myself but that doesn't exactly pay.

Brother in law takes a lot of wildlife photos, and makes calenders that he gives away/sells. Could be an easy place to start. Think you can pair with companies that will print and ship for you for a cut of the pie. Couple things we have in our house that we bought from small shop photographers came that way.

I'm nowhere near good enough for that. I'm still a rookie!
That's not a bad idea. Thanks for the tip! Currently I've just been building a bird wall in my apartment of canvas prints but that's actually a really good idea.

This is one of them, Doyle moss photography. The other one is a guy in Florida that takes cool photos, optical tranquility.com I think is his site

Yeah well we all start somewhere, I think I paid around $600 for that printed on metal. Can't remember the size and in Denver currently but I would think with a gallery online you could make some good side money having a print company do nice prints and shipping them for you. Pretty sure both came from some company in California even though one is in Utah and the other in florida

I get all my canvas prints through Google photos who sun contracts it through an unknown company in Portland.

The metal prints are interesting but I am not a fan of the glare, have you noticed that?

It kind of depends on the gloss level you choose with the metal prints. I got one through Flickr and it let me choose the type of print glossiness

That's good to know. I see the ads for them and they always look like a mirror almost unless you see it straight in. You get much deeper contrast but I prefer the matt finish of canvas.

In entirely unrelated news, my truck and Mike's truck are going to the dyno on Saturday afternoon.

Yeah you have the preferred body for sports and action stuff. Other than a 1dx or whatever. That would be fun to go do with a 600mm.

You've got some good lenses but not any of the lower primes usually used for portrait style usually. Like 40mm or 85mm ect.

Still, dig in man. You could end up like @joshipps haha

Man I got to see the Nat geo competition winners and runner ups ect in a gallery in DC once and they were all metal prints. It was amazingly vivid. So cool. But you do have to be careful how you light them or place them in your space due to the glare.

And looks like my shock bolt just got worn away. Super glad nothing else was fucked up and I caught it before the new bearing got fubared. Love easy fixes and cheap too! Which I'd gotten off my ass sooner so I could go camping this weekend but maybe it'll show up in time.

I'll be bringing a good camera. Not really for me or Mike but my buddies booked the dyno for their builds too and they're some high power turbo big block cars. I'll still film mikes run and my own though.

    Hold on...

Damn I was hoping to run mine with you guys so we could see how the three different setups compare. Have fun, bring us the data!
While the 1DX is the king, for my uses the APS-C is ideal. The only compromise is ISO performance but the extra reach is worth it. My lens setup is a dream, I am aware, there's a few odd ball lens I may add down the road but for now if I can't get the shot I want it isn't from the equipment. The 24-105 F4 would still make a great portrait lens, or I've even heard of people using a 70-200 for that. A tripod is going to be needed soon. And then that starts to introduce the need for flash and I really am not interested in going down that path.

I'll get print outs of everything, be interesting to see what happens, I'll be dyno'd in my 1:1 gear which doesn't usually quick spool, peak should be the same either way though. I'm trying to come up with a way to trap Mike's slushbox in 3rd locked up because it'll want to drop to second when he mats it for a pull.

Is it a rolling dyno or a hub dyno? Gonna see a difference in peak power from the tires alone.

Rollers, this is a new shop, our old guys with the 7000lb nascar dyno pulled up roots and left so I'm unsure of what kind of roller dyno it is other than 2wd and not eddy current (no diesels allowed). Could be Mustang or some DynoJet or maybe CompDyno. But almost all of them have final drive and tire diameter correction math options so we should get a normalized number and a wheel horsepower number. Either way wheel horsepower is the important one really, unless you were dropping Mikes whole combo in my truck or vice versa the other numbers don't mean much since you'd never experience the difference and a brake HP number cannot be achieved without an engine dyno.

Yeah there is a glare, but we don't have a lot of lights in our living room so it's not really an issue. The detail you can see in it is pretty cool kinda like monte was saying. I could see in a room with many light reflections how it would be annoying though
