60+ year old thread.

Wonder if the sugar mill has been torn down yet. That used to be one of my customers when I lived there. Very cool old place. Like stepping back in time in some areas of the mill. Damn shame.

Good morning 60 plus-ers! Last night on Longboat Key. Just before the green flash. Headed to the beach to contemplate nature and its beauty….with a strong cup of coffee.

 

Same weather predicted here.

Spent a bit of time each winter years ago on Longboat Key in a condo across from Publix. Publix has the best Keylime pies! Yum!
Only 93 here today…UGH! 7* above normal!
Kettlebell morning, then hope it’s still cool enough to water the veges (not looking so good!) I need to come up with a shade for them. My second planting hasn’t sprouted. I think I need to try again.

It's gonna be in the 70s here for the next couple of days. Was really humid here today.

 

Yeah, the humidity can go away anytime. Power washed the deck 2 weeks ago, need to seal it but it needs to be DRY

 

Beautiful! Enjoy! I lived on the west side in Kahana, a little north of Kaanapali. View was Molokai for sunsets. Glad to see tourists getting back there. But Lahaina is still a disaster, my friends tell me.

 

Cool Kahana in nice. stayed at a few places in Kaanapali in the past too. Napili , Kapalua. Like Honolua bay and hike to snorkle.

 

I had the first week of June off for a vacation. One of the things I did while I was off was replaced the windows in my garage. The prior 3 weekends where spent prepping for that job, removing a wall cabinet and a built in place workbench. And finding places for all the stuff that was on the wall or the bench, lol.
It's a 1950s garage, all wood, no plywood.
Cabinet removed, a door will go here eventually.

This is a bench the previous owner built in place, no back legs and screwed to the wall. I removed it.

Windows are screwed shut.

I'll lower the wiring and outlets.

Salvaged like new casement windows. Free is good.

What's going to be replaced.

 

Rotted wood.

Ants! Evicted a couple colonies of the..

Old windows out.

Opening made larger.

Framed in.

Added lots of new cripple studs. It would have been nice if the lined up with the window fra.ing but it's stronger than it was and will probably outlast me.

 

New windows in.

And they open!

Trimmed out.

Caulkewd and painted.

Garage will get painted eventually.

 

Moved and reinstalled thew electrical and added a couple of boxes.

A workbench will be built to go under the windows. A battery charging station will go on a shelf below the top.

I salvaged a couple of pallets for the leg stock and took them apart with my home made pallet breaker.

Thew prize is 3x4 hardwood for the legs.

So that's kind of where I am now. I need to built a bench still and also need to frame in an entrance door.
