Her story and I believe a website that was called ride2die back in the day that showed graphic motorcycle accidents are the reasons I wanted my wife to gear up and was a full reality check of the risks of motorcycling when I was getting into it. Since I never got good at dirt when I was younger and did bash myself up good back then I wanted to make sure I kept a good head about me especially at my young age.

Now the appeal of street is mostly gone and I have more fun chasing buddies in the woods where the risks are usually my own and far less dangerous than getting t boned by someone on their cell phone. I only ride 30ish minutes to the trails. I'd love a T7 for some adv/touring style riding though. The stuff we did on our VT trip was fun on our dual sports but I think an ADV bike would make the longer street sections in between more enjoyable and add to the challenge.

definitely in the camp of hating it. Aside from the adjustment to riding style, it's a whole other life you're responsible for on the back, and while I have no problem risking my own life on a daily basis, I don't want to risk someone else's. I've had 2 people ride on the back ever, once was a short 500ft ride through a parking garage, the other was around a track access road from one end to the other. I won't do it on the street.

also heads up for you guys looking for gear, usually if you go on aliexpress you can find the similar products much cheaper than the brand name. for example NBT pants that are lined and padded cost $280 from the brand, but you can find them for $80 on aliexpress.

usually it's all coming from the same factory just rebranded. I would not recommend this for helmets though

I did the same with a FXR MX suit. I looked and FXR wasn't made in the USA(they had 7 factories in the different countries). I got a $250 suit(from FXR site) for like $60 from Temu. I'm all for supporting a USA made company....but I'm not paying a hefty price for you to import. Did the same with the Rhinowalk luggage rather than buying off Amazon and saved a couple hundo.

That said, I just can't afford to buy most of the "made in USA" stuff.

This is what I found when searching.

Most of the product development and production takes place in Seoul, Korea, but FXR works with 40 vendors in 10 countries to produce the product it designs, tests and brings to market.

I do like the spokes:drool:.....but oddly enough not a dealbreaker for me on street bikes :D

I think the Bolt is a pretty good looking bike stock............with a mini fairing :D

yup, unless their production is actually within the US I don't care to pay massive import fees or markups if it can be found cheaper elsewhere

here's the link to the ones i meant, most their options seem to be this style with a couple variations. most people say to size down for a snug fit, I haven't tried them yet but have a few friends who ordered from this listing and say they're exactly as expected and same quality as the branded versions marketed

Yes we had crazy fog that day! I remember having to ride visor up through some of that stretch.

It was so windy on the way up here Monday I was getting blown all around. Originally wanted to put the 701 in the bed and take my truck but needed a back seat so wife took the Subie and I rode the Duke. Scoped out a few good routes so will be up early and out riding in the morning. Hope everyone’s making it through the work week I’m glad to have a break from that bs

I know this convo was a while ago, but I have some new info that relates.

I went and visited a friend the last couple days and he has a V-Strom 800DE and let me throw a leg over it today. I didn't have any gear, so I didn't get to ride it, but I did get to just feel it out.

It was far more intimidating that my Super Tenere, though its 80+ pounds lighter than the ST. I was just on my tiptoes when fully straddling it. It also felt much more top heavy and tippy. If we do a bike swap on our trip I will definitely be one cheeking it at stops to counter that aspect.

Now, as stated, his bike is the more offroad oriented 800DE so the new street biased non-DE V-Strom 800 might sit a little lower. I'm not sure as I've never looked into it.

    Just info for your consideration.
