I just noticed that the roof rails on both sides of my roof are "bubbly" looking for lack of a better word. It's almost like there is supposed to be a piece of moulding over them but there isn't. Hadn't even noticed it until today. Can someone confirm this is normal or if I'm missing something?

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
Certainly not comforting that its "normal". Recently noticed that one of my fender guards is bubbling. Also saw today that my passenger window is getting the same noticeable polarizing effect that I noticed on the driver side.

Agree that it looks like ass. It would have been nice to put one whole piece of trim instead of just covering the roof rack mount hole. The bubbly part is the joint sealant.

I agree. Seems simple enough. Wondering if a rack would cover it?

wouldn't call it bubbling, more like maybe some type of weld is there or filler

Normal on what, a used Pontiac? The top of your brand new truck looks like a dog’s chew toy.

They should extend the trim piece all the way forward & finish the roof properly.

That is some seriously crappy self leveling sealer. It should flow and level out unless it was mixed or applied improperly. [my son is a chemist and makes sealers like this]

Do you have a picture of the fender issue? Mine was raised off the body slightly in one spot. I just needed to loosen a screw and then re-tighten after it seated properly. Curious if yours is similar.

A new NORM of improper manufacturing flaws! They know it’s unsightly finished, the buyers will find it’s unsightly finished, they shoved down people’s subconscious to say “it’s normal the way the new vehicles will be”.
Now we all have to accept that concept if that brand, model is what you’re purchasing.

I see it on Fords, some talk about it on F-150. I presume it carries over on other models. I can't say I like it, but not to concerned if it seals correctly. It's when the seal fails that becomes a problem.

You’re exactly right. So where the heck is his rubber strip?

Someplace where they store the full-size spares, I’d guess. Excuses, excuses…

Pitiful to say the least. I noticed it when I did my first wax application. Too late to do anything about it. Would have told the dealer to go GM or Ford for more lessons on how not to deliver a vehicle. Can't believe Toyota allowed it to be part of the final truck. Cheap! A full black cap, extending the length of the roof would have been better, similar to my previous Gen 2.
