Shop Time w/T.W. Friends

The old Subaru is a 97, the engineers did a good job, for the most part these older ones are easy to work on.

The timing belt on this 06 two cam engine was easier than the 97 four cam.

That one isn't difficult so much as it is fiddly - you have to keep those 4 cams in the right place when the belt is off and due to spring pressure they want to move.

The 2 cams just sit there no problem.

 

Back when I worked in an auto shop I would place junk sockets on the cam bolts then weld them to a bar. That always got me by on keeping cams in place if the didn't have a place for a flat bar to hold them.

 

That is a good idea

I bought a special tool to hold them, it worked ok, seems I had to use clamps or something too.
That was 9 year ago.

 

I refuse to carry any other kind.

 

I was multitasking earlier and didn’t give this the necessary props…

 

Can't wait to see what a 5 billion dollar satellite looks like...if the launch window opens early October, we should see it early August, which means we should start hearing something pretty soon...

That’s super low mileage for a 2006 car, my 2006 truck has about 140k and I thought it was low

 

An actual "little old lady car too", I couldn't let the opportunity go by.

 

Great pick up, opportunity such as this doesn’t come often.

I priced several brands from different places, decided on a set of Cooper's. Michelin's were off the chart ($600 higher)
