meh no judgment. headaches are real and if it's constantly stressing you out I don't think anyone would fault you for moving on. i can kinda relate with the BMW. I mean it's fixed now but for a while leading up to my buddy crashing it and right after I was struggling with what I wanted to do with it. Was super stressed the last week because it was making that weird noise, only to figure out it's because the fairings included some junk windshield that created a weird whistling with the airflow. Thought my engine or transmission was getting ready to go but replaced it with a Puig and now it sounds just like normal. Even yesterday a weird glitch came up with the ignition ring antenna not recognizing the key which stressed me out a bit lol.

Combine that with having 3 other bikes, and the truck, and it feels like I'm constantly dealing with some maintenance item or repair lol. It def weighs on you, fortunately mine have mostly just been regular maintenance rather than issues/fixes

    I got a YZ250F that deserves a better home though....:boink:

dude. that is MINT. wow. I would never let it go unless I absolutely had to lol.

i too tend to spiral whenever anything goes wrong lol. see above about the windshield issue. somehow my mind jumps to the worst possible conclusions even if research says otherwise and I can't move past it until it's solved.

yuuup it just be what it be ya know? still unsure on what id like to get next thou? buddy of mnine asked why not the klx300? tbh never looked into one before lol
crf300l would be fine since its the same on what i got but less power. crf450rl would be a monster and would be a lot of fun! but its a load of money! wr450 out here can be cheap if you know where to look it seems but still pricey but in the same ball part as the crf450. so idk it all depends on money!

i could see that being annoying big time! wild thats all it was thou! i can see that all being stressful with having that many haha

man you are a bit far for me to get a yz from you haha plus those things can be pricey sometimes haha

lol funny my buddy was asking why not the klx300 haha but ya the crf450rl would be a sick trail to trail bike which is what im more or less wanting but that price is an ouch... even used they still run to about 8k out here

sounds like you need a real KLX to add to the list ;) guessing you definitely want a dual sport yeah? KTMs are pretty nice though maybe out of your budget...and I've heard mixed reviews on their reliability. seems some years better than others.

yeah it definitely adds up haha but now it's all good it was all worth it. but the stress is definitely real sometimes.

yeah it's definitely not realistic. i just feel bad for the bike not getting nearly enough seat time compared to the others lol

ya according to what ive looked up the klx300 has the best out the box suspension where it wants to be used and abused on trails while the crf is more couch and is better on street use. ktms and huskys are really nice but ya out of a budget that id want to spend personally on a toy that gets used some of the time haha. a dual sport would be preferred so i can take it on some trails and road use to new trails ya it wont be as great as a true trail bike but it would do me fine id imagine. as much as id love a crazy cool 2 stroke enduro to rip on trails with! i wont ever use it to its full capability haha.

it does man i feel that haha i got the two bikes the truck and the civic project and my dads bike but i dont buy things for it and the gfs car which i also dont buy stuff for i just get to fix it lmao

haha nah sadly it isnt. welllll solution you move out closer towards all the cool people and come ride with us haha then no need to sell!

Aint nothing wrong with moving on, I thought i would never sell my grom (that i put LOTS of time and effort into the motor build) But I did and dont regret it at all.

Depending on your use case (ie street use) for the plated dirtbike, be realistic with HOW MUCH street riding you will do, lots of these bikes like the WR450/CRF450L/KTM500 have VERY small oil quantities and dont take kindly to lots of street riding and have high maintenance intervals, that stated they are absolute weapons for dirt riding.

i rode the KLX300SM at that supermoto class way back, it was definitely solid out of the box. obviously idk how you ride dirt but I would think it'd be plenty capable for your use

haha don't tempt me on the move...getting out of CA sounds great but work would be the biggest limiter. one day...

well now that we've finally convinced him to get a second bike, I'd imagine the bolt will be getting most of the street use, and the dual sport would just need the streets to get to trails?

don't wanna speak for him though

just a couple of things tbh
since we are talking about the same thing ill just respond to both of ya haha

ya its odd to move on from things you put lots of time and money into but sometimes needed like my grey tacoma i spent legit thousands on it but bent the frame and it was just never the same and sold it off. i feel the klx400 has just reached that time for me.

so street use will be very minimal tbh as taco said i have the bolt haha and love riding it on the street where the klx can be fun but i prefer the bolt since we both can go. so the use will be very minimal more or less trail to trail or in town use so very little.

i would love one of the big fancy bikes but man 10k for any toy is a hard pill to swallow to me unless you are racing or are commuting with it then its justified!

i agree from everything ive been reading the klx300 out of the box is a better choice for what it can do. since it seems to be more setup for dirt and some street.

Modern KLX300 is a SOLID choice for sure with a much MUCH better maintenance profile than the more high strung 450class bikes. Dont get me wrong i LOVE my WR450 that is plated for street use but its only used on the street to connect trails and not much more. Im also changing oil ever 10-20hrs of riding depending on the riding being done which can go by pretty quick.

just in case...grab a set of supermoto wheels/tires for the KLX so you can street-hoon solo when you want to. bolt for regular street use with the gf. and dirt wheels/tires when you wanna hit the trails

normally i'd charge for this kind of consultation, but for you i'll waive it

My Klx with barkers exhaust, lidless air box and EHS tuner is a real fun bike. Way better than stock and better than the delkavic slip on and dynojet fuel commander. I rode my brothers (which used to be mine) and mine back to back and you could really tell mine was stronger. Even my nephew said the same thing. You can pick up a used klx300 for under 6k

Do you like the delkovic? I was actually looking at one for my F800GS today online and it seemed suspiciously cheap. Have you been happy with it?

I know several riders using Delkevic stuff now. It IS really nice for the money and if I were so inclined I would use it myself.

Not when you compare it to the barkers.

Whoops, definitely misread your original post where you cleary said you switched from the delkovic to the barkers  I have one more full day of work before I go on 3 month paternity leave and my mind and reading comprehension is very much elsewhere at the moment.

I took a full year off when my first son was born. My wife worked from home and made more money that me at the time. And I could go back to work at anytime without any loss of pay due to being in the union.
