i was thinking about getting some red el wire or led strips and wireing them up inside the cab. but i was wondering how i could have them so that when the head lights turned on and the guages lit up i they would light up the floor in red. any ideas?

Search. Top right corner of the page.

And yes, many people have, myself included. You'll get "rice" comments but if you like the look do it. There's a nice write up around on how to tap into the LED next to the gear select stick. that's what I did. And I used 12" cathodes for computers and stuck them under the dash. There's a guy in the lighting forum selling led strips. Check him out too.

i was also looking at pictures to see what i was thinking :) also i was kinda looking for one that did what the guages do. also i have a stick. would taping into the guage fuse in the small fuse box work? or is there a relay somewhere else?

On my 07 TRD sport there's at least one unused fuse spot that has power only when the lights (park or headlights) are on. I believe it's in the top row but I'd have to double check.

I leave my lights on all the time and let the truck shut them off when I open the door. I hooked my sirius to that pin then the next day turned my lights off and realized it wasn't ignition power after all, hehe. An add-a-circuit is on the way to fix that.

I got 2 prewired leds from oznium.com and put one in each corner under the dash. Not to bright at night, so they aren't distracting. I tied them into the shifter light, but you can tie them into the a/c control light. Its very hard to capture the true output with the camera. Here's a link to them http://www.oznium.com/prewired-surface-mount-led

i did my cup holders and front floorboards. I wired them up to come on with the igition. you could tie them into the dome light and have them come on with the door if you wanted.

I changed them to white shortly after I got the truck. I never liked the amber look.

Edit: that's a dash mat on top if that's what your asking about

I always use red for extra lighting to preserve night vision. I also always place lights, no matter what I am driving at the time, under the dash. I set them so the glow is facing the feet area, truckers actually call them snakelights?? Not really sure why, they call pointy cowboy boots cockroach killer too :D, as you can kill a roach in a corner with them. I do not usually place any more lights than that in my trucks, I wire them to a switch as well to have control over when they are on, but I always run them through key power so I cannot leave them on and run the battery down.
