Let's See Your Dogs!!

Well it has been 3 months since I said good bye to my sweet girl Abigail. My emotions with this loss was all over the place. Some days sad. Some days mad. Slowly I started wondering if being without a Lab was what I wanted. And then I started thinking I am sure Abigail would not want me to not ever have another Lab. So I reached out to a breeder near Atlanta that had two litter of pups back in February. Too be honest I wanted to ask her when her next planned litter would happen. She said I don’t know if you are ready but I do have one black female left. She was 4 1/2 months old. So talking to my girlfriend I said let’s make the drive to see this pup. I have a soft spot for pups who don’t get chosen first. Well the mom and dad are awesome Labs. Mom is a yellow and Dad is a black. I walked out to my Tacoma twice and the puppy never left my side. I walked back in and told Angie. Let’s bring her home. So here we are and we named her Kota. I think Abigail would approve.

 

Congratulations. It sounds like Kota chose you. Which is how it should be.

Welcome Kota!

I got Kimo's breeder from another member here and thought I'd just send an email and see. And here we are. I think our pups let us know it's OK. Sometimes it's months, maybe longer. Could even be weeks but you'll know.

These two girls came to visit us from the horse stable next door. They are litter mates. And keep the Coyotes off my property also. They always get water and kibble when they stop by.

 

Congratulations, I also have a soft spot for the one that is not picked first.

So - Quincy - Brown Lab is starting to show signs of old age. I can tell he hesitates on the steps, no longer jumps on the bed, ect... Arthritis in the hips.
Anyone have suggestions? Supplements, ect...? Don't want to go down the pain med road. Thanks for any feedback.

 

Sorry to hear, we've been down that road before and will be again at some point.

We have had good success with liquid glucosamine food additive. So much so that we forgot to bring it along one wkd trip and you could tell he missed it. Helps with mobility.

Also, CBD oil for dogs. For sure helped with inflammation. The vet said it doesn't work for every dog but it did for ours.

A girl in the marketing group at work said she uses a once monthly shot for arthritis for her aging pooch. I have asked her for the name of the med. I think its anti-inflammatory, not a pain med. I'll re-post when I have the name.

 

We started our girl Abigail on Librela for her old joints and arthritis. Once a month shot for around $85 bucks. It worked wonders for her.

 

Sorry for your pup. Our dog has the same issue and she is 14. We started giving her CBD with glucosamine. You have to be careful with which brand you go with. I am not sure if I can say what brand we use on here. Shoot me a PM and I can give you details. We also started her on Regensa. It’s a prescription but has work miracles on her. Along with switching to Farmers Dog, she has been a different dog.
