me no i dont own anything that old nor plan on it lol but bkerchuck has owned older hondas and has a great knowledge of things on older bikes so he should be able to help out on that

 

i think the wheels are from a cx? i remember my buddys cx having similar wheels

I have a 1977 CB400F Super Sport .



On this bike I'm the 3rd owner and know the original and second owners and the dealership that sold it from new. Bike is about 95% original but has been repainted in the correct Candy Antares Red and has reproduction decals. All chrome is original or NOS replacement

 

talked to my buddy keegan (the one with the 78 goldwing.) those wheels are the honda comstars and would come on the later year goldwings and cx bikes and that most early hondas were spoked wheels from his memory

 

The 750 F2 have these wheels.

 

Yours looks very good, It'll probably take me a year or 2 to get it like yours. lol. Where can I get parts cheap other than eBay?

 

whats the difference from the f2 and the other models?

The F2 would have had those wheels but not that early. The photo of the VIN plate shows the bike to be a regular CB750F

 

talking to my buddy about this since he knows old hondas pretty well.

depending on what it is the wheels are not original unless its the f2 like you said. but he also stated it could have been a parts bin bike at the end of its year and they slapped those on.
drilled rotors are not original but i mean thats an upgrade right? lol
exhaust is not stock
missing the front turn signals
4-1 is not stock

So, if the drill rotors not original, that means wheels have been replace or upgraded too, no?

 

possible but also not. if its an f2 then they are the og wheels and the rotors went bad and someone put better ones on. but my guess is someone wanted it to look like an f2 ish and got the comstars from either a cx, goldwing or an og f2 and bolted them on.

 

exhaust has a cheap clamp on it, looks like it's from HBF.

Looks like the front end might have been swapped entirely.. I can't imagine that a 76 came with double disc brakes. And the standard comstar wheels would put it 78-81ish. After that they were primarily black, not silver, according to the google fu

My 1981 CB750C had the "reverse comstars", so sometime prior to 81.

 

yup but at the end of the day meh if you are trying to make it all og then you will want to find those wheels for it. if not run em and just make it look damn good so people dont care!
