So my work has this online message board for acknowledging leadership and people going out of their way to do something... and like the last days worth of posts are all for the therapy dog. Hardest working corrections doggo in the industry I guess.

Oh dude those frozen cylinders of juice were a staple of my childhood, on hot summers a frozen cylinder of lemonade was the tits. I would just eat it right out of the can

But I don't miss being poor

I will say, I'll enjoy some of that shit now just because it really hit different

 

I don't think it was a poor thing for us, I think those frozen cylinders of juice are just a midwestern staple that my mom passed down. Then again she did grow up poor so maybe it did have to do with that.

 

For us it definitely was

It was a lot cheaper getting some of those on sale than it was for the Sunny D jugs I always wanted or whatever else was out

On the plus side it was easier to carry on the walk home

 

He was downtown. Not a lot of hunting pressure there. I thought he was fake at first.

 

It's a great one. Finally gives Ken Miles the credit he deserves for his part in the GT development.

 

I'm not going to pretend I knew who he was, cause I didn't but I was familiar with the Lemans during that time (bits I've read in old magazines and stuff)

But after watching it, I'm glad the film portrayed his hand in the whole thing like you said

Technology has come a long way in saving the lives of race car drivers. It was all too common for those guys to die in those days. Currently reading Mark Donahue's book. In one chapter, and I'm paraphrasing here, he wrote "I was warned that there could be a big wreck in the first corner so I held back. Sure enough there was contact and a car went airborne and landed on its top killing the driver. Anyways, I went on to win the race, my third championship, and learned how camber setup effected handline." Like it was so nonchalant to write it but that was kinda the attitude in those days.

 

There's a handful of them around here.

 

That is still the way I make pinto beans. Only way really. Make them my own.
