Haha, that pics been around for a couple weeks... That had to be one scared cat to choose the cactus...

Of all things in the AZ wild, mt. lions are the only game that legitimately scares me.

The point isn't the animal its the method. Any drunken jackass can shoot a treed cat or bear.

I don't have a problem hunting ANYTHING as long as it can be determined to be sustainable and benificial. The only reason that there are legal hunts of these species is because they would starve in the winter if not thinned out in the fall. Therefor you are ending its suffering prematurely, and preventing the suffering of others in the population.

BUT if you are going to take an animal it you should earn it. It doesn't make you a "big man" to rely on a small pack of dogs to find and take out dangerous prey. If you want to take a dangerous animal then you should take some risk. Our ancestors didn't use dogs to erradicate the US of bears and lions, why are we using them to "sportingly" control them?

ORLY? Yeah, we've only used dogs for hunting since mankind was mankind, but I see your point. What do you think the original purpose of domesticating wolves was? http://adventure.howstuffworks.com/...ng/traditional-methods/hunting-with-dogs1.htm

Also, how do you propose somebody find a mountain lion without dogs? They're fast, elusive, and deadly. The only reason man has been able to be the dominant species on earth has nothing to do with our physical characteristics; we get to use our superior brains. You know, to train and domesticate dogs and create guns so that we can win against a 200lb cat.

Have you ever seen a mountain lion in person? They don't generally just trot by, they hide and stalk you, and you may well not see it coming until you're already pounced on. Yeah, I'll pass...

Get off your high horse. Mountain Lions are not rare. Treeing is a hunting method used for a variety of animals. Get some education or shut up.

X3 use that Tacoma you apparently have if you're on this forum and get out and learn about the outdoors and the species that live there. You are missing out if you think hunting is cruel.

This is why I'm a bowhunter. People who try to tell me that Bowhunting is Easy or Unfair, I laugh because it's the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. You try sneaking within 30 yards of the most sensitive pair of ears in the forest. Bowhunting is the most challenging mode of hunting. But that's what I love about it; the challenge.

Looks like glido treed one without any real effort. Give him a spear and he'll give you a lion burger ;)

I'm no couch critic. I have had numerous run ins with bears and lions, and have seen a dog hunt first hand during the NC bear hunts. Most of the action was watching dogs get run over and bears get blasted out of trees and dens. I have also seen first hand what happens when cats get hungry and come out of the mountains to snatch up dogs, cats, and small children.

Sorry I was not clear, I was meaning to refer to the stories from early expeditions and settlers where they shot lions as they found them. I was not referring to taking down the great wooly mammoth.
