Paint has "Orange Peel" look

    I searched around a good bit on this and couldn't find anything.


    I noticed yesterday that both sides of my white 09 taco look like crap. The paint looks like it has the orange peel finish all the way down the doors (bottom half only).

    Is this something done from the factory? Do they just not care about the finish on the lower part or is it done this way to make the paint last?

    its done from the factory. it is more rugged paint to "stop" rock chips and extra protection from road wear and tear. it doesnt work IMO

    It's called "Gravel guard" or "Stone guard"

    Toyota's have a much finer gravel guard on the rocker panels, and door bottoms, while most other manufacturers use a much thicker gravel guard. It's purpose is to deflect stones, etc... from the bottoms of your doors.
