I'm sort of there with you due to the price delta of the Taco and the Tundra being what it is.

Those Tundra issues make me very nervous though lol.

It might be up to the Stout to keep me in a Toyota.

I figured they'd be more aggressive with the discount on the limited, they only marked it down $6k from $65k. I told the salesman I know you can swing me a good deal on these since no one is buying them with engine problems, he just made a nervous laugh.

I kept hoping my brother would sell me his 2022 Tundra Pro, but that didn’t happen.

I am one that legit prefers the Tacoma’s smaller size. My wife has also enjoyed driving my 2nd, 3rd, & 4th gens. I will say that the 4th gen’s ride height makes it feel bigger than it is. I am quickly reminded of its smaller size (compared to full size trucks) when I park almost anywhere, however.

This market and inflation will cool vehicle ADD. I’d like to replace my 2016 4Runner with a 2024 4Runner but so far, I haven’t found a good enough deal. Time is running out, too.

As for my truck, I think people are right. $70,000 is too much for a 2024 Tacoma Pro. Fuck ‘em.

I also prefer the smaller footprint of a midsize truck. Same reasons.

If they do decide to produce a Stout, it will be on a unibody platform like the RAV4.

My local dealership is now listing $1,000 discounts on all 2024 Tacomas across the board.

I'm sure it's possible to get more than that at the sales desk.

    My, how times have changed.

ETA: and my, how Toyota overshot the market price points. That ball is a good 10 feet above the head and 10 yards in front of the receiver.

If it can hit 4k towing and more than the current 1k payload I have now, I'm still interested. When a new Trailhunter has only 10% more payload than my truck, I am doubtful Toyota can build a trucklet to my desired specs though.

The Maverick with tow package can do 4000lb, and depending on spec has 1500lb payload.

but Ford always has better tow/haul numbers than Toyota so I’m guessing the stout will be another instagram truck to join their other ones

I'd rather buy a Toyota if i'm honest, but toyota is making it hard. All I ask is Toyota match the competition, instead we get what we get.

The 2025 "FJ" which may or may not make it to the US uses the TNGA-F frame so a mini/scout truck could also be made with body on frame.

    Stock (for now)

I went with the OR, avoided doing add-ons anyways as I plan on doing that myself. I was able to get it down a bit. Crazy though how they're throwing everything into the Pro now to get you to buy that. Going to keep it stock for a bit before I start lifting it and changing out the tires/wheels. Going from a 2013 Sport to a 2014 OR is a crazy difference, especially with the interior.

I agree. If they make it a Maverick killer, I'll be interested.

Since my 5 lug meets/exceeds my needs, a hybrid FWD Maverick would be just fine, but I *think* I'd prefer a Toyota, assuming they can keep the pricing in Ford territory.

I didn't think 90k CAD was actually gonna be the MSRP for Trail Hunter....

Toyota as a whole has the most loyal customers, and because of that they don’t have to put their best product out. They could give two shits if something is inferior because at the end of the day if it doesn’t have a Toyota badge on it a lot of people won’t buy it.

And just to be clear here, lower is better. Toyota has the fewest problems amongst mass market vehicles. Let's see how this gen holds up.

I guess it's possible but then it's basically the same as the Tacoma. Being on a unibody platform would at least allow them to have a lower priced pickup.

Saw my first 2024 in the wild yesterday.

Drove by the dealer this morning. He's up to his ballsack in them. Haven't seen this many new vehicles since 2019.
