Depends. Do you have the JBL deck? Do you have steering wheel controls?

Note he said AUX cable and not USB. If you want to do the USB, you can lift the rug up and see some nice holes to use. Poke through there and lower the rug, it does ok. A bit better fit might need the drill or cutting the rug.

I am new to the forum so forgive me if I don't do this right.
I am glad you posted something about upgrading your 09 X-Runner system. I tried to add an amp and a couple of kicker 10's to my factory system and do away with the factory subwoofer and it was crazy sounding. Needless to say I put it all back the way it was. If someone has upgraded this new system that Toyota has put in the X-Runner, help would be appreciated. The factory system sounds good. It just needs more power.

I have never touched anything on the dashboard in more than thirty years of owning cars. But my Taco came with the single-disc CD player. Taking in and out cds can be dangerous alone. I tried an FM ipod transmitter, but it seems I live too close to a mega-radio city. And so I bought a 6-cd player on ebay for $65--most sell for more--popped out the old unit and, with the great help of this post at TW and a bit of finagaling, the thing is taking my cds. Only problem was getting the hazard light etc. out of the bottom of the old unit.

    Thank you very much!

That's just it. It didn't work. The subwoofer system in the new X-Runners are wired to work together much like a JBL system, only without the power the JBL system has.

Each of these require a different wiring harness. Ok, well... the JBL might not, but the steering wheel controls require a different harness. :)

Usually you just connect that to the ground wire so that you can play DVDs while driving... That's what many of us have done and works great!! ;)

I have a question for anyone that thinks they can help. I have a Pioneer avh-p4000dvd double din headunit. I have the schosche ta07sr adapter and all those goodies. As most of you know the audio hookups on the schosche adapter with the JBL units are 4 RCA jacks. I have all those in their correct places and all my wires are color coded and are connected correctly as well. My question is why in the world do my speakers decide to play "ring around the rosey" when i get everything connected and wired up right? Meaning the sound comes and goes from front speakers to back speakers and from left speakers to right speakers. I have all the fade and balance set to 0 as they come straight out of the box. I am completely lost on this one guys. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. TIA

    Thanks,
    Allen

I must be stupid. Just can't get it. Does it come out backwards or fowards??? Been trying to get it out for a while but afraid of breaking something.

I have to say, I normally don't write anything on these things, but felt a need to say "Thank You". Especially to OO7Tacoma and Mr.Marv. You all saved me $200, my steering wheel controls and the clean look of my 6 cd changer. I went into a Best buy and asked what could be hooked up to my Jbl 6 cd changer where I could still use my steering wheel controls and my ipod. They told me, that couldn't be done. I ended buying a new deck, harness, wires, and paying for installation. I waited for an hour while they attempted to put the new deck in and they realized they did not have the right part to hook up what I bought. They asked if I could come back the next day and they would get the part and put it in. As I was leaving, i remembered Tacoma World and some threads about hooking up sound systems. I logged on and found everything I needed.

I got to tell you. I am not the mechanical type. But the pictures and instructions on putting in a stereo were awesome. I sucked it up and began taking things apart in my 2007 Tacoma. I ended up getting the Y-PODTOYV215 Neo ProLink v2 from icarkits.com. I spent more money only because I got next day delivery which cost me $50 more. Call me restless.

I put it all together within an hour and I was good to go! I have had it in my truck for about two weeks and the sound is excellent. I have control with my steering wheel controls, the songs display on my stock radio dash, the prolink charges my ipod when needed. It's awesome. I should share that I do have an alpine amp and 0ne 10" sub boxed in the back of my double cab.

Anyway, Thanks again to 007Tacoma and Mr. Marv for your guidance. This forum is awesome. Keep havin fun and sharing knowledge. It's the one thing we can do to make the world better!!

That is correct - it comes out backwards. It seems really difficult to get out, but it isn't that bad once you figure it out.

Trust me - it isn't just you. That thing isn't fun to figure out.

Thanks for the head removal pictorial.

Bought my 08 Taco new, 18 months ago. Audio Express installed a FM modulator. Back then, they said that was all that was availiable. It was all manual ipod controlls & sounded crappy.

I just installed a PA15-TOY interface, it took 30 minutes. It took me 1 hour to rip out all the FM modulator crap!
It workd great w/ my JBL & all sreering wheel controlls.

    This is what I purchased:

ok this question might have been asked already but i quite didnt understand the answer by reading all the posts.
I have an 05 tacoma with 6 cd changer jbl system, i want to keep the controls on the steering wheel working, so can i jus upgrade all the speakers and sub and keep the amp? or what do i need to do?? can i jus get a new head unit and everything would work???
any recommendations on what head unit to get that would work with the controls and possibly the whole system. Also i would like the head unit to be basically the same size as the factory jbl stereo is, so if that means a lcd screen well then i want that.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
