Hey man really appreciate you taking the time to type up and share your experience, thank you. 650-700 hours is wild!

Slapped on a plate and a fender bag I had lying around and took it out for the first time today to the local single track. Love it. PO had the carb worked by a respectable local mx shop. Will look in it to see what exactly was done just for my piece of mind. Super, super pleased with the bike. At this point the only changes I want to make are hand guards and a better light. Excited to take it on some multi day trips this summer.

Man you are making me nostalgic. The days of my life when I had my 04 250X were some of the best days of my life. The bike is an amazing bike suspension and all. Keep fresh oil topped off in the motor and she will treat you well. After the original battery died I NEVER replaced it, just removed and taped off battery connections cus 1. IM A CHEAP ASS, 2. Less weight up tall, 3. The bike how I had it jetted would start first kick every time. Stone cold, pull enrichment knob, two WOT quick grabs of the throttle to squirt fuel down her throat via the wired accelerator pump and one kick fire to life. The only time I had to pull the lil hot start lever on the left side handlebar was if I stalled n dumped it but thats to be expected. Not sure how many hours on the suspension thats on there but if its up there - do an inner and outer fork rebuild and rear shock rebuild. Those are great KYB components on there that you wont want to kill due to lack of maintenance.. hell Modern KTM bois swap to those forks cus they are superior.

Take the time to go through the bike, grease steering stem and all the rear suspension linkages (this goes for any used bike), and often over looked.... CHANGE THE COOLANT. Valvoline Zerex red asian works perfect but only sold in a gallon jug - you really only need a quart so maybe grab the honda specific quart of premix coolant and top off with DISTILLED water.

Damnit @warjelly You made me go down memory lane of my 2004 CRF250X. Circa Summer 2008, Life was easy, first year just passed of college studying hard n doing well and hanging with great friends (that I still hang with today).

    IMG_0528.jpg

Couple years later at the same MX track (thats now been shutdown..... sigh) on ye old 04 250x, always the only dude on a "trail bike" with a headlight on the track.

I wish that track was still open, 45min away awesome spot, always groomed well, cheap, fun n great people. Boy how the times have changed.

Hell I loved that CRF250X so much... its original camshaft is on perma display on my TV stand. (sold it with the upgraded 06 250R cam)

Well, remember your gear and to be careful out there.

My oldest nephew crashed on his dirt bike and won a trip to the hospital. First off, he is stable and will recover. He didn't have gear on, so it definitely could have been worse. Busted his face, broke some ribs, and all around got cut up. His ribs are the most painful thing, but he's tough.

When he wrecked he got his leg just below the knee caught in the chain. He nicked a blood vessel in his leg, but they patched him up.

Pics are not for the squeamish. First is before they put 15 internal stitches and 44 staples in him. Second is after the repairs.

Needed a Pic to change the thumbnail.

Bike is loaded so I can give my buddy's son a ride home, and then we'll set out on the bikes tomorrow.

just a couple of things tbh
So yesterday was something! It was the fuck moped rally. So I went with my buddy Keegan, his brother and his wife, and another friend of ours, and I had Emily on the back of the bolt. If you all have never done a moped rally it's basically chaos... Road closed? Ya we go down that... Bike path yup.. off-road? Yuuuup down in a cave tunnel thing and use the emergency exit so we could leave? Yup... as mentioned it's chaos and you are just kinda there for it. The first one I went to was pretty tame this one ya was hectic I took the ole bolt through a lot of fields and some mud with my gf on the back the entire time and I'll tell ya that was tiring! But we all had a great time thou! I'll post more pics once I see them on Facebook I know my buddy Keegan took a tone with his film camera so once he gets those pics back I'll post those as well.

Also I'd like to point out that it's been upper 80s and low 90s lately and we got rain the last few days so the humidity was through the roof and these people were camping in it! Like hell nah haha I took a shower just waking outside my house!

Yeah that was at a time when I was riding the MX track quite often and got pretty comfy in the air (and much younger haha). I definitely don't spend that much time off the ground these days.

Whelp.... just realized friday after work I went to the market and for some odd reason I put my gloves on the back seat of my moto while putting groceries in the top box and totally forgot about them and zoomed off, Gloves are gone.

Anyone have any glove recommendations that dont break the bank *cough* Klim *cough* General purpose street riding in mostly warm weather.

EDIT- I was rocking some Joe Rocket Super Moto gloves

    https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/joe-rocket-super-moto-gloves

I was checking those, you're sol in all the colors, that sux. I've noticed stock is low during the summer months all the way around. I was daydreaming on tires earlier this week and most in my sizes are out of stock.

My summer gloves are alpinestars reef's. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-reef-gloves They wouldn't hold up to an extremely long slide, but they have palm and finger patches that'll handle slow speed spills and a plastic knuckle guard, but they're extremely breathable.

Not sure your level on the NGATT to ATGATT scale, these would be closer to NGATT haha. I accidentally melted part my first pair on an exhaust...

Not Klim prices. My previous gloves were~60 bucks so something around that range would be nice but under 100 is dooable.

I was gifted Alpinestars Drystars last week. They are good quality but not super happy with the fit, tried on other sizes and ended up keeping the gifted set.

I love naked gloves, but man they suck in the morning and night time, at least I have more choices now.
