Amanda and I work in two different departments and rarely see each other throughout the day. It was Amanda's boss's idea to hire me, not hers. This is by no means a permanent job, but I plan on staying there for at least a year; Amanda has assured me that if I leave for greener pastures, she will not think less of me and it will not affect her standing with our superiors. I've been getting along great with my bosses and coworkers alike, and none of my supervisors are up my ass. The hours are long, but the work is very easy relative to the amount of money I'm making.

 

Sounds good. Make the money while you can since it's easy.

 

Yes, ever hour over 40 hours is time and a half, so $22.50; I also get $22.50 per hour all day on holidays if I work the day before and the day after, so I actually want to work on the 4th of July! They had a guy lined up for the other full-time dishwasher position, but from what I've heard, he didn't pass the background check because of a felony conviction...

 

I hated my old Friday/Saturday shifts that l used to do, Friday night 5pm to 2am then Saturday 8am to 7pm.

 

Amanda is thriving and will likely stay there; I plan on pursuing my longtime dream of becoming an HVAC technician; I wanted to do this back in 2019-2020, but COVID happened and I had a good job at NAVMAR so I stuck with that...

 

Who needs sleep, right?

There was a time I could 48 hours no sleep.
Not any more. If I do 48, I'm going to need 18+ hours of sleep to recover.

 

This is 12pm to 8pm (though I am usually done before 7:30) on weekdays, and 7am to 7pm on weekends. I have off on every other weekend.

 

Yeah sleep was pretty minimal back then, sleep recovery days were minimal too, lol.

 

Yeah, you work 5 days to make what you can in 2 days.
Get it while you can. And SAVE IT. Pay for HVAC schooling.

Today started out okay, but turned into a disaster because I was doing the job of two dishwashers; I told them that I will not be doing anymore back-to-back double shifts, and I will not be taking on the workload of two people. My parents and my girlfriend agree with me, and it is believed that they are desperate enough to keep this position filled that I will not get fired.

 

In todays workplace, Some help is better than no help.
You have 3 options:

1. Do 2 workloads for 1 workload pay
2. 1 Workload for 1 workload pay
3. Quit and do no work for no pay

In reality, you'll be hard pressed to find a job that doesn't require you to do 2x the work at some point.
I don't mind working harder for the same pay at times. But I also don't like working harder, so some "other guy" doesn't have to for the same pay.

 

Can you obtain any of these licenses online?

 

Being forced to do back-to-back double shifts on the weekends I work is going to change, and if they don’t find another guy (or girl) to help with pots and pans in a timely manner, I will put in my two weeks. The guy who trained me is awesome, but works on the weekends I don’t. The other utility guy is a asshole who only shows up when he wants and will likely be fired as soon as they find somebody new, but in the meantime we are stuck with him because they are so desperate. The son of a bitch showed up three hours late yesterday and left several hours early, claiming to have the flu. He was even fake coughing. He also speaks virtually no English, and I am told that another guy quit without warning after two days of working with his worthless ass.

 

Yes, that’s what I’m doing; I also have a contingency plan if this job at the nursing home doesn’t work out…

 

Good. Get it. It will help you and shows employers you mean business. When I took the Test in '96 it was a fairly serious deal, I believe it is even open book now.

I still know a bunch of stupid dates and rules that came to pass 20 years ago lol. Crap like this is why I can't remember my anniversary or my kids age, but I can tell you endless stupid tidbits about the Kyoto Protocol and WTF classifies as De minimus.
