it's my solution to what i saw as a problem.

when i bought the place, the backup pump went out through the wall to the back yard, but only by about 6'. so if the backup were to ever kick in, it would empty the pit to the other side of the basement wall, which would then delay, but drain right back into the pit, repeating the process, but adding rainwater as well. it was also really irritating to have to mow around a pipe sticking out of the wall.

i wye'd the backup into the main pump sewer output so that if the backup kicked in, it would actually get rid of the water to the original sewer line, instead of just regurgitating it to the other side of the wall.

the pipe between the two before the check valves are nothing actually-- it's just a support for the pvc lines. i tried being fancy, and hole-sawed it like i was building a roll cage, hoping the surfaces would match up close enough that the glue alone would tie the pieces together. it didn't. which is why the zip ties are there. there's actually 3 tie-together pieces like that, the second is visible just at the top of the hole.

it also helps support the backup pump-- the primary pump is sitting on the floor of the pit, and then the backup pump hangs off the pvc discharge pipe about 12" up. to give the primary pump the best shot first, with the backup being a 'worst case' take-over pump.

i should note that i'm in a very sandy area, and at the top-most part of my block. either end of the block is about 4' lower than me. so my sump very rarely kicks in except at the most extreme rainfall events. i also share the power grid with the main school district buildings, so my power is quite reliable, and a high priority to get back running if it ever goes out.

so that said, my backup battery ran into it's 5 year life span about 2 years ago, and i've since disconnected the backup pump-- it's just not needed enough given my location.

Ok, I thought it was some way of venting it. I bought the main and backup as one unit. One pipe going out. When it drains and the pump stops it creates some kind of suction and the check valve flaps up and down. Really only goes off in the spring time around April but a lot. Then bone dry for the rest of the year.

The only decent piece I have left, is my McIntosh Mac-4100

Been collecting parts to repair it, the Am Ferrrite antenna is broken, and some worn out jacks on the back. but I have a really nice back panel I picked up that will get swapped in. along with a recap.

I use this as a lighter alternative to my m18 stuff. Sometimes you don’t need a huge impact or drill. The 90 head is handy as well.

I don’t know if ya’ll have been paying attention to pipeline, but there’s been some cool things that will be released in the next year or so.

new rear handle saw seems cool. I think the current one kind of sucks compared to, pretty much all the others really, imo.

The first m18 roofing gun coming out too.

And of course a ton of different light options.

Hmmmm, with the high lake levels we have right now, I’m thinking adding a backup system too. I need to see what’s out there.

I'd love to see a cordless siding/fencing gun.

Yes, I purchased it quite some time ago and it's my go to for light duty work, kitchen cabinets/hardware, etc. The ergonomics alone make it a winner in my book.

Still getting settled into mine, but definitely have a long way to go to keep everything organized. Need a lot of shelf, wall and modular storage options to keep enough room to use the lift effectively.

The unit pictured below has done that from day one for me. Has yours ever automatically connected? I just assumed it came from the factory that way (manual BT connection each time).

Appreciate the recommendation. Just added this to my cart.

At first it autoconnected and all a sudden it wouldn’t one day. I hit the BT button for 2 seconds and the phone prompt. After several attempts it finally paired and gave the distinct “low tone -medium tone” sound it makes when it successfully pairs with my phone. Ever since then, (about a month after purchase) I gotta manually re pair them. Sometimes it takes up to 3 tries to get them to pair. I remember researching this issue and found some Reddit posts saying it was common with this particular model and some folks couldn’t ever get it to pair.
