I have about 2500 miles on our 2024 TRD OR. I stopped with traffic at a stop light, when it turned green, pressed the gas, the engine revved but the rig didn't move, revved again, same result, shifted into neutral and back into drive, same result, moved lever to the "manual" side and bumped it down, but the indicator stayed in "6". Back into drive and rpm's up to 4500, got it to move enough to get out of traffic. Sat on shoulder, no check engine light or anything else. After several minutes, revved engine to about 3000 rpm and rig started moving but sounded terrible. Drove about 10 blocks, parked it, turned off. After about ten minutes, started it, shifted into drive and it has worked fine ever since.
Called the dealership and talked to service mgr. She had never heard of such a thing. Since no lights came on there probably won't be a code. Have any of you folks heard of this?

No weird shifting prior to this ? If it happens again definitely have the dealer check transmission fluid level .

I've seen people use OB readers and find trouble codes even when there weren't any dash lights. I'd be taking it to Toyota regardless. Something is wrong for it to do that. Get it documented.

If it happens again push the SOS button and have it towed to the dealership.

Follow Up. First - thanks for all the comments above. Drove it to the dealer (130 miles away) and service manager gave it to one of their master tech's. He found a code that required an engineer's response. I will over simplify what I think I was told because I don't pretend to understand much of it, was given the name, but promptly forgot it sorry, of the valve in the transmission that senses when the transmission needs to engage. That failed. They pulled the pan and found metal filings in the oil. Gave me a nice loaner and we'll see what happens next.

You might want to ask for Toyota Corp to give you one of those nice extended warranty’s.

He's probably going to get a new trans. Might be worth asking for a warranty to see what they say though.

Oof. Hopefully they get it cleaned up for ya. To echo, I would imagine they just give you a new transmission. Interested to see what caused this. What loaner did they give you?

I suspect Toyota (not the dealer) has that transmission in a shop somewhere. That's what happened when TFL's front end went out.

there is a guy in here with the same symptoms. Truck would rev up but not go anywhere. Was also stuck in 6th gear. Dealer also found metal in his oil pan and he's currently waiting on a new transmission.

Last follow up (I hope). Drove my TRD OR home from the shop today. After receiving the new transmission a couple weeks ago without a torq converter(sp?), the dealership got one yesterday, installed and tested it. I took it on the two lanes over the mountain passes and then down the freeway. All seems right with it. The service mgr assured me it has a full 5 yr, 60K miles of Toyota protection and will probably go 300K 'cause its a Toyota.
